Cheerleading has provided a major aspect of my life since I was in seventh grade. Throughout middle ~~school~~ and high school I ~~have~~ participated in many extracurricular activities, both at school and in my community. As one of the activities that has had the strongest influence on me, being a Cheerleader has taught me the value of hard work, the importance of ~~working as a~~ teamwork and of time management. Competing as a member of a cheerleading team also requires a great deal of dedication as well as a positive attitude.

Competitive cheerleading involves five components: stunting, tumbling, dancing, jumping, and cheering. To progress in the two main and most impressive aspects of the sport, stunting and tumbling, requires intensive training, which is physically and mentally strenuous. Participants must build up physical endurance, strength and coordination ~~in order~~ to increase their skill levels as well as mental preparation to avoid the risk of injury. It can take many years of drilling ~~new skills~~ and routines to acquire the skills to become a successful, competitive cheerleader. Although it is a difficult process, feeling the ~~self~~ satisfaction and pride when oneâs team wins a competition makes this tough journey well worth the effort.

Most high schools' sports seasons generally last ~~about~~ between two and three months. ~~Being that c~~Cheerleaders must first ~~fulfill~~ meet their responsibility of cheering ~~for~~ during ~~both~~ football and basketball games. Since Cheerleaders must also ~~compete~~ take part in their own competitive events, ~~this can cause the~~ a season to can last as long as nine months. ~~As a result,~~Team-mates therefore spend a lot of time in each other's company, during which time close bonds and a high level of trust may develop between cheerleaders; this level of trust is crucial during stunting ~~as well as~~ and tumbling. A competition routine would not be complete without all members of the team working to reach their fullest potential for the competition season ahead and exhibiting the highest level of skills in their routines.

Trying to manage a busy schedule can be ~~exceedingly~~ overwhelming without ~~the use of~~ proper time management. Organization, having a positive attitude and ~~being driven~~ the drive to meet all responsibilities and expectations are all ~~necessary~~ needed when ~~one is placed with the task of~~ managing a demanding schedule. Being a student athlete and an active member of my class while ~~maintaining~~ working in a part time job has taught me the real value of proper time management .

My high school career has benefited from being a competitive cheerleader and from taking part in all class events . Simply by participating in a sport that I am passionate about, Iâve acquired the valuable life-skills that I listed earlier. I am confident that these skills have improved me as an individual and will serve me well in the future.

I am sure I have applied the proofreading corrections incorrectly (I only just noticed the tabs on the right - sorry!) but I had a stab at tweaking some of your English, as you requested. I'm afraid I know absolutely nothing about cheerleading - a) I am male b) I am from London, England where cheerleaders are pretty rare, I am sorry to say.

Apart from my suggestions, if it is of any help to you, I have observed two things about your writing style, which you may want to examine for future essays.

You often turn your sentences into the 'passive voice' - e.g "Much time is spent by me in practising my stunting". Instead of a more active, "I spend a lot of time practising my stunting." The latter example is more positive and much more interesting to read. You will know when you are doing it when you begin your sentences with a verb ending in -ing, e.g. Being, trying, progressing etc.
Avoid wordiness. You have a tendency to write ten words when three will do the job nicely and more clearly. E.g. "Being a member of a competitive cheerleading team as well as an active participant of all class events has been highly beneficial to my high school career". I reduced it to "My high school career has benefited from being a competitive cheerleader and from taking part in all class events" Again, I switched form passive to active and cut out the words that were not needed. Just a thought. What you wrote is not incorrect, just not very elegant and it sounds just a tiny bit pompous.

I hope you don't mind these comments? I am only making them so you won't need people like me messing with your writing any more. Good luck with this essay and with your cheerleading competitions.

Re: What does left-wing and right-wing mean?

I was confused for a long time, and still was until I confirmed (I Think, but am not entirely sure) tonight what the terms "Left Wing" and "Right Wing" really mean. CNN, MSNBC, and FOX newscasters love to use the term constantly, unaware that many listeners don't have a clue as to what the terms Left and Right mean. The definition of the French and English in the 1700's, and even watching TV today of the US congress, did not make any sense - are they talking about left and right with regard to the point of view of the congressmen as they seat themselves, or the point of view of the podium (Stage Left, and Stage Right, the opposite of what you define when seated looking up), which reverses left and right, depending on if you are up here or down there.

From what I have figured out after MUCH searching, and even dictionaries do not define it, I believe that the Left is Liberal (Democratic), and the Right is Republican (Conservatives). Am I correct, and do I win a prize? That would be a good way to remember it, if that is right (Opps, I meant Correct). If I am wrong, then please correct me. But the concept of Left and Right, in and of itself, has no meaning whatsoever! If I were stupid, I probably would not have this problem of having to figure out what is what.

You can't determine that on the TV, and no dictionary defines it, and no web site explains it. It's like football. I haven't a clue what they are talking about. "It's 4 and 10" has absolutely no meaning without UNITS. 4 WHAT? 10 WHAT? I just don't get it. You don't have a snowball's chance in hell figuring out what they are talking about just by watching and listening. The same is true about "Left Wing" and "Right Wing." It could just as easily have been Up Wing and Down Wing, or Green Wing and Purple Wing, or Clockwise Wing and Counter-Clockwise Wing. Maybe they need a book or TV show called "Politics for Dummies?" Then maybe the rest of us idiots would understand if they really mean Liberal or Conservitive. Amen!

My strong desire to take a Business-related course in Great Britain began three years ago when I realized I was attracted to this dynamic field of logic and consistent patterns. Having a broad interest in many subject areas, I now seek to become as versatile as I can. Therefore, choosing a Business orientated degree seems to be a logical step for my studies at your University.

My vision for the future began very early, with a background selling newspapers and other things to my
