My boss has asked me to write a formal letter of invitation for six Chinese dignitaries that will be visiting our business next month. It is my understanding that they will all be referenced individually in the same letter. Also, we do not have their individual addresses- it is going through an intermediary (although he is not to be referenced in the letter, so I have no addresses). I have no problem writing a letter per se. My question is, would you add anything extra because it is a formal invitation to foreign dignitaries?

I'm not sure of how to write a formal letter to invite a speaker to give a workshop in my school. The workshop is about how to present yourself in front of corporate "big shots".

Can anyone advise me on how the format of the letter should go? I've not written formal letters before =(

Thank you!

CAN YOU CHECK MY INFORMAL LETTER, PLEASE? THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Dearest Peter,

Wow!!! I’m so thrilled by your “surprise birthday party” for Ann!

I’m more than pleased to help you organising the “big event”.

Let’s discuss your main ideas.

I do agree with you, we need to make sure the people involved will keep the secret.

Why don’t you write down a list of the persons Anna would be happy to have at her birthday?

It will help us to know the number of people who might participate.

Then, I would send them an e-mail titled “ARE YOU ABLE TO KEEP A SECRET…?” followed by your invitation and a clear explanation of your birthday plan.

Talking about the location, the Majestic Hotel would be very elegant and fancy. However, I’m afraid it is extremely expansive. You need to figure out what your budget is.

I would suggest a different solution: I could ask my brother if his theatre company can rent us their rehearsals room. Then, I would call a catering service.

If I were you I wouldn’t choose a watch as a present to Anna. As she adores travelling, I’d rather think of a week-end journey to a European capital city.

I know that the party organisation will be a lot of work. So, I’m really sorry not being available the day before the birthday. I’ve already scheduled a meeting with an important client of mine.

My last suggestion.

It would be nice to connect the party to the country where Anna will “be sent”. Giving you an example, if her journey is to Madrid all the guests should dress in kind of Spanish style, the band could play some Spanish peace of music, and so on.

Hoping my ideas can help you, I’m looking forward to having your feed-back.

Love

Please could you check up that letter and correct, improve it?

2nd June, 2006
Dear Jane,
I hope you are well. I got your letter this morning where you were complaining for absence of pastime.
As you know I recently have bought a house on the outskirts. December 7 I organize a housewarming party and I would like to invite you to come and enjoy it with me!
Do you remember the latest meeting with our pack of childhood? There was so funny! We were mention our excess and laughable situations. I want to repeat that, so I invite people we were friend with. I want to talk about they lives. I'm interesting are they a models, policemans so we were planning when we were kids! I think if there would be a good weather we can go to the garden and do barbecue, eat unhealthy food, dance, you know. If the party go off well we can stay up all night! I want to feel like a child without any problems and I think that with those people it can works.
When you will be in my town ask someone if he can tell you where you must go to be on the Black street. Then you must drive on the end of the road, then turn left into Blue Street, there would be some shops like market, chemists etc. My house is very specific, cause it has tchatched roof. It's the last house on this sreet.
If you want I can put you up for the night. That wouldn't be any problem. I hope you can make it and we 're having a great time!
Love,
Beata
Accepting invitation to spend weekend on friend's farm.

Hi.
I am Korean and I live now in Seoul. In recently, I write an English letter on behalf of my aquaintance who is musician and have a concert in his own house in Seoul. He has invited pretty many foreign performers to his house and had concerts since 2002.

On January next year a performer who lives in Germany will be coming to Seoul to have a concert. She wants to have a invitation letter for sponsorship in Germany. I have not written that kind of formal letter before. Please just a moment to have a blick on my writing. I think I have several mistakes of grammar and many things. I cannot figure it out by myself. Please help me~

==========

<The ( )th House Concert>

Date: the 1, on Janary 2007, at 20:00

Place: Seoul

Supervised by composer Mr. Park

Words for invitation

Mr. Park requests the pleasure of Ms. Lei as a performer to the ( )th House Concert in South Korea on 1, January 2007 at 20:00 in Seoul.

The House Concert is held twice a month since July, 2002. In the House Concert people have an opportunity to experience of hearing various genres, such as western classical, contemporary experimental music, Korean music, popular music, independent film and different kinds of performance.
The concert hall in which music is playing is a private house of Mr. Park. In such an intimate space performers and audience could be musicking close to each other, which is very uncommon way of having a concert in South Korea.

The concert on which Lei will be playing is a kind of special concert which takes place once or twice in a year.
On that concert many people would be able to take part in the concert free of charge and listen to contemporary music which is not heard easily in South Korea.
