Hi,

I've got question about two sentences from the Cambridge IELTS book:

1) From the discovery of fire to the invention of wheel to the development of the Internet we have been moving on from previous ways of doing things.

My question is that why there is no punctuation inbetween "the Internet" and "we have been.." ? I guess the author didn't feel that a pause was necessary there. I certainly do, because of the length of that whole first phrase, so I would definitely put a comma there.

2) Others, such as medical advances, positively help people to live better or longer, and so very much help traditional ways of life.

My question is that what does " and so very much" mean? Is it the same as " very much" or "so much" It's an emphasized form of 'very much'.

And any I hope you can give me some suggestions about how to prepare the IELTS test? especially the writting part, I am really bad at it. I don't have any specific advice for you. But if you want to write some passages and post them here, we will be happy to help you with them.

On the whole, your essay looks rather good. I have highlighted my corrections with bold text. I suggest removing underlined phrases. I hope you can benefit from the corrections!

Considering that Much of the poor nations have a big problem called corruption that makes it difficult for the poor population to move forward.

To eradicate poverty it is necessary that all the countries get (Slightly informal. Consider "become") committed to it. To do that it is need more than just good will for the wealthy countries and the government of the others (This seems to be unnecessary) is required. It should be a responsibility of all of us to ensure that every person in the world has access to basics like food, COMMA education, COMMA and shelter. Poverty is a man-made problem, so the solution can be found by man, too.
