my quest for knowledge has only intensified. Thus, I &lt;u&gt;spent&lt;/u&gt; most nights
&lt;u&gt;at library&lt;/u&gt; reading books like &lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;The&lt;/b&gt; Social Contract&lt;/i&gt; by &lt;b&gt;Jean-Jacques&lt;/b&gt; Rousseau, &lt;i&gt;&lt;b&gt;On&lt;/b&gt; Crimes and Punishments&lt;/i&gt; by Cesare Beccaria, &lt;i&gt;A Theory of Justice&lt;/i&gt;
by John Rawls, etc. &lt;strike&gt;Certainly, due to my diligence and intelligence, &lt;/strike&gt;I
topped my class in many courses and ended up with a GPA of 3.5/4.0. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Since basic legal knowledge is never enough for a prospective
lawyer, I participated in extracurricular activities to put what I
learnt into practice. I have been a member of our collegeâs legal
advisory team for three years, which &lt;u&gt;benefits&lt;/u&gt; me&lt;u&gt; a lot&lt;/u&gt; in resolving
real legal issues. During my internship at HuaLi Law Firm, I was &lt;b&gt;assigned&lt;/b&gt; several important tasks like drafting legal &lt;u&gt;documents,
registered&lt;/u&gt; cases&lt;b&gt; because of&lt;/b&gt; my excellent writing skill and strong sense of
responsibility.&lt;/p&gt;

such as the debate for freshman, the Lilv Cup moot court, the cuisine
competition, etc. Although I failed in some contests, I still believe
that the process of experiencing and learning is always more important
than the results. By &lt;u&gt;taking&lt;/u&gt; these activities, my confidence was
improved and my communication skill was advanced.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As the editor&lt;b&gt;-in-chief &lt;/b&gt;of a biweekly campus magazine, I introduced a
new column which became popular among students. Moreover, our team
under my direction accomplished the publicity work &lt;u&gt;of&lt;/u&gt; the University
Cuisine Festival. Also, as the project manager of SIFE, a global
student organization, I planned and managed a four-day embroidery
exhibition at Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Outside pure academics and leadership roles, I am keen on volunteer
work. In my freshman year, I tutored a teenage girl in math for free.
When she made significant progress in her examination, the smile she
&lt;u&gt;worn&lt;/u&gt; touched me deeply. I saw the same smile on the faces of &lt;strike&gt;the&lt;/strike&gt;
special athletes when I helped them in &lt;b&gt;the&lt;/b&gt; Special Olympics and &lt;b&gt;of &lt;/b&gt;the migrant
workersâ children when I made toys to realize their dreams. I always

disputes, I resolved to specialize in international commercial law to

an overseas university becomes indispensable for me. However, the
expense is too high for an ordinary Chinese family like mine.

different view of mathematical modeling in macroeconomics because of
the courses NNN and MMM. &lt;strike&gt;I see&lt;/strike&gt; another &lt;strike&gt;significant &lt;/strike&gt;advantage of the
curriculum â &lt;strike&gt;the possibility&lt;/strike&gt; to choose among numerous elective courses&lt;strike&gt;.
Thereby I can&lt;/strike&gt; &lt;u&gt;concentrate&lt;/u&gt; &lt;strike&gt;my attention&lt;/strike&gt; on the &lt;strike&gt;set of&lt;/strike&gt; lectures that
&lt;strike&gt;exactly&lt;/strike&gt; satisfy my requirements. In addition, &lt;strike&gt;during my studies not all
the fields were covered although they were interesting for me, such as
study of finance, which was rather limited, and that is why&lt;/strike&gt; I would
like to take the course OOO to broaden my horizons in this field. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;strike&gt;Obviously,&lt;/strike&gt;
this degree will give &lt;strike&gt;a considerable&lt;/strike&gt; &lt;u&gt;incentive&lt;/u&gt; to my &lt;strike&gt;professional&lt;/strike&gt;
career. Econometrics, different methods of data estimation and
prognostics can be successfully applied in &lt;strike&gt;the business environment of
today, such as&lt;/strike&gt; business analytics, forecasting of financial markets,
etc. My work &lt;strike&gt;experience&lt;/strike&gt; in a big consulting company gave me&lt;strike&gt; a reason&lt;/strike&gt; to
think that there were numerous possibilities for professional
development and a great demand for specialists&lt;strike&gt; in this area&lt;/strike&gt;. &lt;strike&gt;In this
connection, I consider the&lt;/strike&gt; study at QQQ Program &lt;b&gt;will&lt;/b&gt; extend
my knowledge,&lt;strike&gt; which is&lt;/strike&gt; necessary for my &lt;strike&gt;successful&lt;/strike&gt; promotion in this
sphere. &lt;strike&gt;With my dedication and acquired abilities, it will be the best
combination for the achievement of my professional ambitions&lt;/strike&gt;. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Thus,
I believe that my academic background in &lt;strike&gt;different areas of&lt;/strike&gt; economics
and mathematics and serious intentions to study and research will be

very few mooring places along the Backs, and the river is too narrow
and bridges too low to afford easy passing/turning for many boats.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The stretch above Jesus Lock is known as the upper river. Between Jesus Lock and the Mill Pond, it passes through &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Backs" target="_blank" title="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Backs"&gt;the Backs&lt;/a&gt;
below the walls of many of the colleges. This is the section of river
most popular with tourists, with its picture-postcard views of elegant
bridges, green lawns and graceful willows. This stretch also has the
unusual feature of the remains of a &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punt_%28boat%29#The_Cambridge_towpath" target="_blank" title="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punt_%28boat%29#The_Cambridge_towpath"&gt;submerged towpath&lt;/a&gt;:
the riverside colleges did not permit barge horses on the Backs, so the
beasts waded up the Cam to the mill pulling their loads behind them.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;From the Mill Pond and its weir, the river can be followed upstream through Granchester meadows to the village of &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grantchester" target="_blank" title="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grantchester"&gt;Grantchester&lt;/a&gt;
and Byron's Pool, where it is fed by many streams. In the summer the
upper river is open only to manually propelled craft, the most common

&lt;P&gt;&lt;B&gt;&lt;/B&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I wish to apply for admission to pursue a Masterâs Degree in Diplomacy at&amp;nbsp;Yale University&amp;nbsp;in September 2008.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Prior to my university study,&amp;nbsp;diplomacy has always influenced my choice of study stemming from the fact that diplomacy is an important factor in the development of any society. Why? Society needs decisive leaders on the international scene, to protect its interests.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; My university academic background is based on two major disciplines, Public Administration and history, which are some of the core subjects in diplomacy. There the curriculum for Political Science and History was based on Administrative Responsibility and Accountability and International Relations.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I studied in two areas related to&amp;nbsp;diplomacy because I believed that I would be preparing myself to pursue a career in diplomacy or working in an international organization and to become a leader whose decision would have a positive effect on society. During my studies at the university, I was involved in various presentations, brainstorming, and discussion groups in which I had the opportunity to start training my leadership skills. By the time I successfully completed my studies, I had acquired excellent leadership, administrative, and organizational skills. I was inspired to think critically, reflect and put forward my ideas, and go beyond surfaces. I have learned to apply critical thought to real life situations. I believe the sum of&lt;B&gt;&lt;I&gt; &lt;/I&gt;&lt;/B&gt;all this makes me suitable to pursue a Masters in diplomacy.&lt;B&gt;&lt;I&gt;&lt;/I&gt;&lt;/B&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;B&gt;&lt;I&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/I&gt;&lt;/B&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;After three years of study, I was employed to head the developement program of an international non governmental organization. Why a fresh graduate to head the program? This was a result of the development programs I submitted to the organization prior to my interview. I clearly exhibited my leadership skills through the various programs I initiated such as the youth leadership program aimed at youths. We thought them to carry out responsibilities bestowed on them. As well our aim was to reduce juvenile delinquency, and to improve the life of the under privileged by introducing several ways of generating income.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; In 2001, I decided to go abroad to expand my work experience in an international arena, experience a foreign culture, and broaden my scope on life.&amp;nbsp;England is my prime destination due to its growing economy and its role in international politics. I was employed to head the international department of a foreign company, specializing in labor import, exportation and developmental project analysis and implementation. Here, I have the chance to work on an international level and improve my intercultural skills. Within an international team, I work on competitive development programs for foreign companies looking for suitable developmental projects. I write reports about their strategy and implementation. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;While working in England, I always ponder why Africa and other parts of the world are plagued with civil and tribal wars, political crises, and slow economic growth. Most of the peace talks always turn out to be futile thus paving the way for more fighting and political problems in our society. After a careful analysis of the whole situation, I realize that Africa and other parts of the world needs leaders with strong technical and analytical skills to solve these problems. As a result, I am motivated to pursue a master degree in&amp;nbsp; in diplomacy. This is going to lead me to my career ambition of being a diplomat.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;After a careful research and analysis of more than thirty universities in terms of their programs and course structures, I chose&amp;nbsp;Yale Universitybecause of its well defined Masters of&amp;nbsp;diplmacy program, I believe I will go a long way to enhance my leadership skills. Its mobility program with other outstanding universities will give me the opportunity to interact with fellow students from different cultural backgrounds, views and opinions. Its creative and analytical seminars are also an impetus in my decision to study at the institute. Taking part in such seminars, I will be building a strong foundation for my future career.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I am excited about my decision to pursue a master degree in diplomacy at Yale University.
