You should delete the indefinite article in the second and third sentences. - "pharmacologically active" = adverb + adjective (i.e. there is no noun)- "inert" = adjective (i.e. there is no noun)

Hi, There are lots of cases where we put an indefinite article in front of a capitalized noun. eg Would you like a Coke? eg I needed a new car, so I bought a Toyota Camry. Best wishes, Clive
