cause I want to study in the United Kingdom. But I always have some
problems in grammar.

So I would like a kind English speaker
correct the big mistakes in the grammar of my sentences (not the
content). I'll be very grateful if you can help me

Thanks a lot !

The topic is : "According to press articles, the US is a more masculine country than France. To what extent do you believe this is true ?"

Through History,
we’ve seen that American people are proud and want to manage the world.
Meanwhile, French people know how to live and they have a more collectivism mentality.
According to several studies, the US
is a more “masculine” country than France. We’re about to study if
this is a reality or not.

1°/ First, we can compare educational values
between these two countries.

The
American people educational values are rather funded on individualism.

Each person
must show his value to be recognized, the merit is more important than the link formed (relationship) with others.
Pupils and students have to be independent, self-confident, their teacher
assists them in work but they don’t give solutions. They also have to be
competitive.

For
instance, intercollegiate sporting events are promoted in American football and
basketball. These competitions attract not only young people but all sport
fans.

In France, educational values are
rather funded on collectivism.

The ties
between people are privileged, it doesn’t matter if a person undergoes many failures his family and
his friends will always support him. Devotion in relationships is essential
because people don’t stand to be alone.

As
students, we’re used to partying several times by week, we enter in student
associations to share our ideals with others and we think that is the victory
of groups which is the more important.

For
example, in soccer games, one player goal
is the equip goal. (but 1 joueur est le but de l’équipe)

According to Geert Hofstede (a press article
writer), these points show that the US
is a more masculine country than France. I think we can reveal there
is another aspect of this topic with gender ideas.

2°/ The power that is a more masculine idea can
be illustrated by American will to possess big things.

Indeed, American
cars are big like 4x4 or pick up, they
like to eat big burgers.

They use an
amazing budget for their movies with many special effects and they often
contain fights like Rambo, Terminator or Rocky. Each time, we have the feeling
that American glory is bet and it’s always American people who win.

Then, American
comics imply heroes with a super strength and a nice physical appearance like
Superman or Hulk.

On the contrary, French culture hires the small
things and products are adapted to family which is a more feminine idea.

There are
small French cars for young people the Twingo, the Clio or the Smart and we’re
used to taking a little break with a small cup of coffee.

In France, there
are often humoristic or romantic movies like movie of the moment “Bienvenue
chez les ch’tis” which is the best French humoristic movie of the year.

We’re also
used to reading comics like “Astérix” or “Tintin” who are not really
superheroes.

As we see through all these examples America owns
more masculine ideas than France and we really saw a gap between these two
mentalities.

            3°/
However, the
feminine culture in France
is limited.

We also
have a competitive policy as we se through a job or college interview. The
selection is tough, there are some oral or written exams and many people are
refused.

The vision
of soccer as a “sweet” sport is far from reality because many players are hurt
during the games.

Furthermore,
there are French action movies like “Les rivières pourpres”, “Nikita” and “Leon”
which compete with American super production.

In my opinion, the association between
masculine culture with men who search for success and power, and feminine
culture with women who look after their family is a stereotype. It tends to
disappear today, women are more and more independent and they can be company’s bosses
or minister.

For
instance, the French company CHANEL is lead by a woman.

To conclude, obviously the US is a more “masculine” culture than France. But in
my view, there isn’t a best culture because self-confidence and relationships
are essential to have a happy live.

We can
wonder if the promotion of power and success could not lead to abuse.

Sincerely,

Re: Correction of an Essay

Hello,

Thanks for your quick answer !

I didn't realise my sentences were so short, I corrected them so I hope it is better now. I added numbers to empasis my main points.

Could you help me to correct my grammar ?

            Through History, we’ve seen that

"It looks like it will be three weeks, something like that," manager Avram Grant told BBC radio on Monday. "The operation went well, we just need to wait and see."

Drogba, who scored 33 goals in all competitions for Chelsea last season, is keen to play for Ivory Coast at the African Nations Cup in Ghana which runs from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10.

He had the operation on Saturday after his knee locked in training on Friday.

Grant is confident the likes of Andriy Shevchenko and Claudio Pizarro can step in to Drogba''s shoes, starting with Tuesday''s Champions League match at home to Valencia and Sunday''s game at Premier League leaders Arsenal.

"I have confidence in these players but I would also feel more confident if he (Drogba) came back," said Grant. "You know he is quality.

"He is a very important striker for us, even in the last two months he missed three games but I prefer that he is fit and playing."

------------------------------------------------------------------

Reuters) - Real Madrid and Liverpool have won 14 European Cups between them but need to show their teeth on Tuesday if they are to make the knockout stages of this season''s Champions League.

Nine-times champions Real would be guaranteed a place in the last 16 with a home draw against Lazio in their final Group C match. The Spaniards have won all their matches at the Bernabeu this season and Lazio are likely to struggle.

Werder Bremen, who kept alive their hopes by outpunching Real 3-2 in a thrilling contest late last month, must win at Olympiakos to go through.

Liverpool''s task looks more complicated than Real''s.

The five-times champions might qualify with a draw at Olympique Marseille but need a win to be absolutely sure to survive a tight Group A.

Marseille are in a similar situation and can turn to recent history for inspiration, having stunned Liverpool 1-0 in October, which made them the first French side to win at Anfield.

Liverpool warmed up for the game by losing their unbeaten Premier League record with a 3-1 defeat at mid-table Reading but Marseille will take nothing for granted against a side who have scored 12 goals in their last two European outings.

Porto, showing glimpses of the form that made them the 2004 champions, top the group and receive Besiktas needing just a draw.

Schalke 04 welcome Rosenborg in Group B with the Gelsenkirchen club needing to beat the Trondheim outfit to survive. A draw would enable the Norwegian team to join group winners Chelsea, hosting Valencia in a meaningless tie.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Reuters) - Football Association (FA) officials are set to interview Italian coach Fabio Capello about the vacant job of England manager, media reported on Tuesday.

Already a strong candidate, the former AC Milan, Real Madrid and Juventus coach''s stock has risen after former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho withdrew on Monday from the race for the England hotseat.

Several newspapers reported that the FA would be meeting Capello this week, although fellow Italian Marcello Lippi, who steered Italy to their 2006 World Cup triumph, is also seen as a candidate.

Capello has expressed his interest in the England job following last month''s sacking of Steve McClaren for his failure to steer the team to next year''s European Championship.

"It would be a beautiful challenge. I am the right age," Capello told the Gazzetta dello Sport last month.

The 61-year-old Italian is seen as a tough disciplinarian who sets great store by a team''s defensive strengths.

He was dismissed as Real coach at the end of last season despite winning the Spanish title and has been working as a commentator for Italy''s Rai television.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

(Reuters) - Barcelona reclaimed second spot in the Primera Liga behind arch-rivals Real Madrid after they maintained their 100 percent record at the Nou Camp with a 2-1 comeback win over Deportivo Coruna on Sunday.

Deportivo silenced the home crowd when they took a shock lead in the third minute, former Barca youth teamer Cristian beating Victor Valdes with a 20-metre swerver, but Barca equalised through a Ronaldinho penalty just before the break.

Depor looked as though they might hold out for a draw until midfielder Xavi side-footed home from close range 20 minutes from time after keeper Gustavo Munua had tipped a Carles Puyol cross into his path.

Barca striker Samuel Eto''o returned to action after over three months out with a thigh injury and came through unscathed.

Champions Real, who won 1-0 away at Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, lead the table on 35 points, four clear of Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid moved into third spot, a point further back, after a 1-0 win over neighbours Getafe in a bad-tempered match at the Calderon in which four players were sent off.

Javier Aguirre''s side clinched their barely deserved victory thanks to a well worked goal from Diego Forlan in the first half but the win was overshadowed by the dismissal of two players from each side in the space of 12 second-half minutes.

Atletico striker Sergio Aguero was the first to go when he picked up a second booking midway through the second half and Getafe defender Lucas Licht followed him down the tunnel for the same reason eight minutes later.

Getafe keeper Roberto Abbondanzieri was given his marching orders for a handball outside the area and Atletico winger Jose Antonio Reyes completed the display of indiscipline when he was shown a straight red moments later for a wild tackle.

Villarreal dropped to fourth after they went down 1-0 at home to struggling Real Betis who replaced Hector Cuper with reserve team boss Paco Chaparro after last weekend''s defeat at home to Atletico.

Espanyol missed their chance to overtake Villarreal when they surrendered a two-goal advantage to draw 3-3 against Real Zaragoza at La Romareda.

Zaragoza took an early lead through Argentine striker Diego Milito but looked to be down and out when Espanyol hit back with three goals in the space of seven minutes.

Raul Tamudo claimed the first on eight minutes when he lobbed into the top corner from the left side of the area, Valdo added a second with a superb curler and Pablo Zabaleta ghosted in at the far post to make it 3-1 before a quarter of an hour was up.

Zaragoza suffered a further setback when midfielder Peter Luccin was sent off at the start of the second half but Espanyol failed to take advantage and Brazilian striker Ricardo Oliveira struck twice in the last four minutes to earn his side a point.

Juan Roman Riquelme

Juan Roman Riquelme

International nonconformity:

It was bad thing happened this year

He international nonconformity with the national team because some big problem with the newspaper and his mother she was sick in the hospital in the most time.

(((((((And this interview with him

What is the reason to international nonconformity?

Because I want to care to my mother I love her more than football.

But she is ok now?

Yes, but I can not play again. Think that I will play again with national team and she became sick again, what you want me to do?

Why you do not let other person to stay with her?

She is my mother. And this is my job I most care to her, what the people will say on me?

What you feel with you said that you want international nonconformity?

It was easy. I know it is difficult foe other players, because national team t-shirt is dream for players to wear it.

What you want to say to the player in the first shampionship without you?

My heart with them, and now I am far and I want to say for some people who hate me I am not here now and nobody say Riquelme was reason if the team lose and I think they should choose other player to do that.

What you said to Basili?

He is good person he listens to me and he understands me.

What is the thing you did not do in Europe?

In Europe football as not as Argentina football. It I big different, in Europe they did not play to help their family they rich and play to be rich. But in Latin America the most player are poor.

What Boca Juniors fan did after they know?

Boca Juniors fan is different from any fan in the world, they are special fan you can feel that you are playing and more, one day in Boca better that years in other place you can not feel if you do not play with them, when they start to sing the stadium vibrate. I can not explain to you because there no word to tell you happen there In Europe they didn’t do that, and I miss this thing in Europe.

What you will say if i tell you there is some people do not love your style?

I can not change my style for some body. The important thing the fan love me and love my style in the match and the people in argentine love my style.))))))))))))

With the Tango:

Or is it just some Iranian's who "mispronounce" the word? I recently heard an interview with an Arab reporter who expressed outrage at the Western use of the word Shi'ite, and since then I have noticed that most Muslim politicians and reporters seem to use the word Shia but I don't know if they were all Sunni. Do you find that many Muslims are upset by the word Shi'ite, because it sounds like your at an English football game and the home team is losing, or are they unaware of that or perhaps understand why the word has come into use?
Re: the difference.

I was asked the exact same question by my friend from Slovakia.

To be "on time" is usually very important, usually refers to a specific
deadline or arrangement, and usually comes at the end of the sentence.

For example:

"I must be at the job interview on time."

"I must hurry, otherwise I won't get to work on time."

"Tomorrow I've got a date. I must be on
time."

"The train isn't on time."

"You're two minutes late! Why aren't you on
time?"

To be "in time" could be less important and normally comes before the end of the sentence.

For example:

"I want to be home in time to
watch the football."

"I want to get to the pub in time
for last orders."

Two errors crop up throughout your essay; you need to capitalise 'I' and you need a space after commas and full stops (periods). You have quite a few errors with mixed tenses and ungrammatical constructions but I'd hate to do your teacher out of a job. I have pointed out a few of the more easily fixed errors for you. Those in red are an inappropriate choice of word. Those in blue are spelling mistakes.

The sky turned grey, thick layers of clouds covered the rays of the majestic sun. It was going to rain. Tony and I decided to loiter around the nearby shopping centre, till the rain stops.

The shopping centre was three stories in height, half a football field in size. The wide variety of products sold, would keep us accompanied for hours, even when we are window shopping.Tony had been eyeing for this two hundred bucks for a month! I was planning to buy him as a surprise birthday gift this year end,to keep a memory of our 5 years friendship.

While Tony requested to hang a little longer in the bicycle store,I sat outside, thinking about the collection of the class fund for the Chinese New Year class decoration, which was about to come in two weeks time.A class of fourty students, each was expected to pay five bucks to the class chairperson, which destressingly turned out to be me.Shockingly,i looked at my watch,it was about six o'clock in the afternoon and it was still raining cats and dogs! I immediately informed Tony that I had to return home to wash the clothes, and then left Tony alone in the bicycle store.

Without the umbrella was a despondency, worst off all was the clothes my sister urged me to wash and dry,as she needs it for her job interview tomorrow.I stayed overnight in my drenched school uniform, still trying to dry my sister's clothes.Eventually,i fall sick on the next day, which I was supposed to collect the class fund in school.I dialled Tony and requested him to take over my duty of collecting the class fund, two hundred bucks. I placed all my trust in him,but things turned out to me wrong after being absent for two days in school.

Tony did not hand the money to our form teacher, or to me. Disappointed to found out that he had misused the class fund for his new bike. A few classmates and I apporached him ,we boycott him until he is willing to return the two hundred bucks.

can u guys help me to check on my errors? story on "Abused"

The sky turned grey, thick layers of clouds covered the rays of the majestic sun. Errors pointed out in red. Parts you may wish to re-think are in blue. The use of the word torture is absolutely not appropriate here. It sounds as though he was doing them severe physical damage! Do you mean torment or tease?

Andrew Bennet, 19, was born and raised in Carrollton, Mississippi and is a sophomore at Holmes Community College. He has already begun to venture into his adult life through careful planning and consideration. And, even though he loved to torture his little brothers in his younger years, I believe Andrew Bennet will lead a successful life because of his love of sports and the pursuit of his dream to become a physical therapist. And, despite the torture mentioned above, he lived a very happy childhood. ( I also don't see the relevance of his teasing his little brothers and his leading a succesful life 'despite' treating them in that way. You are implying that with most people, having teased your brothers would stop you leading a succesful life. Again, his teasing wouldn't stop him having a happy childhood - it may have made his brothers miserable though!)
Starting at a very early age, it was obvious Andrew would be a sport lover. Since he was a child, he would collect baseball cards. As he grew, he began watching many sports on television or listening to them on the radio. He showed an advanced passion for the sport of baseball, which is considered his favorite. His favorite team is the Atlanta Braves, which only strengthens the fact that he will one day achieve greatness.(how does having a favourite team increase his chances of greatness?) Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about his view on college sports, of which he favors Ole Miss (is this part meant to be humorous? Doesn't quite work). Andrew even hopes that he will someday serve on the medical field of a sport organization.
As I mentioned earlier, Andrew currently attends class at Holmes Community College. He is attempting to finish up at Holmes Community College and continue his education at Delta State University where he will then major in physical therapy. Physical therapy has long been a dream of his, and it looks as though he doesn't have much farther to go in accomplishing this dream. Although, he will have to continue to work hard if he wishes to accomplish it. Andrew seemed very vigorous to learn so that it doesn't seem that working hard will be a problem for him. After he has received his degree from Delta State, he plans to get a job working as the staff on a sport team.
As a child Andrew loved to do many things that other children love to do. He would ride his bike all around, and play with friends. He would play sports, like baseball or football, with friends outside, play video games, and fish. As he travels deeper and deeper into his adult life, the experiences that he has acquired throughout his childhood will shape and develop him. His childhood will continue to impact heavily on his life, studies and eventually his career. These were golden times in his life that, I believe, will lead to success in his future.
That's about all I have to say about Andrew Bennet. Hopefully he continues to chase his dream of becoming a physical therapist. He has come far in his journey and continues to go farther. Maybe one day we will see him on national television helping someone on a baseball field. I would also like to thank Andrew for allowing me to interview him and gather this information to construct an essay about him. Andrew was very helpful and cooperative during the interview and I appreciate it very much.
