Social Justice âMarriageâ

Marriage is a custom which can be found in every human culture. Although the forms and rules are differ. Marriage is a form of commitment between man and woman. It is a legal recognized relationship by a religious ceremony between man and woman who intent to live together as sexual and domestic partners. It is can also an arrangement between families whereby parents create a kind of business transaction in order to maintain family status and level. Modern marriages become more complicated today due to social justice issue such as homosexual marriage and divorce.

Arrangement marriage used to be common in the ancient world and it is still practice in most countries today especially to those high power and status families. Parents have control over their childâs happiness. They will one who will choose and decide to whom their child going to marry. For the sake of family status and power they sacrifice their own childâs happiness. Freedom and happiness have been taken out from their children. Arrangement marriage is also a form of solemn promise between two families. My parent married was arranged but they opting for love marriage. Even though they donât love each other, but at least they know each other for long time. They try to accept and love the one another and now they live happily with six children in a comfortable living. This kind of marriage arrangement is good because both families know each other very well. But not for others, they donât even know who their going to marry. They cannot see the appearance and personality until the wedding day. Marriage means people marrying for love and live rest of their life for the person their love. Unfortunately, marriage is just a primary union which made good economic sense and in order to solidify political alliances.

Modern people are pushing the trend toward amorality same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage has been top debate issue in our political and society today. Even higher Supreme Courts take action about this matter. Majority people are opposing about same-sex marriage or gay marriage, especially in religious groups. They insist that marriage is between one man and on woman. They been taught this way and it was written in Holy Bible for many thousand years. As a Christian myself, I have been taught by pastors, church members and family that there only two gender that God created. Gay is considering a moral sin. Although, I have been taught that way but I never look down on gay people. I have big respect for them, it is not their choice to be gay it happen from their own will. They also human have the right to choose who they want to married. I support gay civil union for gay couples, but it doesnât mean that I support gay marriage. Marriage has been union of one man and one woman in all human cultures throughout human history. It has been the standard custom in many cultures for several thousand years. Unfortunately, the definition of marriage today is radically different from what it was several thousand years ago. Same-sex marriage destroys the definition of marriage, because it no longer represents the inherently procreative relationship of opposite sex pair bonding.

Marriage was born from primitive cultures that recognized that males and females mated and as a result produced children that needed to be cared for. Unfortunately, the rates of files divorce increasing rapidly especially in United State. Many people filing divorce because the relationship is not going well. In the first place they didnât know what is marriage really means. They just though that the intimate love between two people are enough to get married. It is more than that; it is more on responsibility and sacrifice. It is an idea couples committing for life and raising children together and sharing the struggles of survival. Divorce is the most stressful event that affects family especially on children. Children may feel a great loss and as well as anxiety and sadness. Back in hundred years ago, divorce cases are very rare. Even the love between both parents is gone; they still stay together for the sake of their children. Parent divorce made a big impact on children, from old saying that âchildren learn what they liveâ is very true. Parent is childrenâs role model, whatever parent do the children will imitate it. Children of divorced parents perform more poorly in school. They also are more likely to repeat a grade and to have higher drop-out rates and lower rates of college graduation. It is really big impact for our society; federal government spent more money on school because higher repeat grade. Marriage is foundation of family. However, the foundation is getting weak and higher consumption for singles.

The meaning of marriage is differs from one person to another, from time to another. In ancient times, marriage is a form condition where women most treated as a property for men. Historically period, marriage is permanent institution that once entered cannot be dissolved beside death. Romantic love has been made the most important basis for marriage. Marriage is also a commitment and agreement of both men and women. Certainly, in the modern world, the meaning of marriage is become more complicated. Marriage is primary union which made good economic sense. People are pushing the trend into an amorality society. Same-sex couples are pursuing the right to be married. Unfortunately, a legal recognition didnât allow same-sex to be married, it will change the meaning of marriage extremely differ. In addition, higher divorce rates many children will not be raised in a traditional family unit. The meaning of marriage never define, it is changing as the times change. As society changes, the institution of marriage changes as well.

Hi,

(1) During the debate and the discussion on the definition of marriage, I was asked over and over again, "How would this change your marriage to include same-sex couples in the definition of marriage? How could making marriage more inclusive harm the institution?"

Can the be deleted before discussion? Please advise Yes.

(2) If it is nurtured in its traditional or historic form, it is sustained as the foundation for the raising of children. It is family-centered.

Can the hyphen be deleted in family-centered? Please advise. I suggest that you keep the hyphen. ( In Canada, we favour the British spelling, ie 'centred'. )

Your problems are more a matter of spelling than grammar. These are all right:

a. Yesterday there were 200 marriages in the city.

b. Yesterday there were 200 marriages in the city.

c. Yesterday there were 200 weddings in the city.

d. Yesterday there were 200 weddings in the city.

Marriage is the ceremony; wedding is the social event.

I prefer "ended in divorce," except that it's redundant with what came right before it. Actually, the entire second sentence (except the "fairy tale" part) is redundant.

So, you can recast: could save their fairy-tale marriage, the couple finally divorced in 1996. (No second sentence.)

I know that your "idvorced" was just a typo, but your first "thier" is a common misspelling, even though you have it as the correct "their" the second time you use it.

Hi I've marked the mistakes in red for you to sort out and areas where you may wish to re-phrase for style are highlighted in blue. Quite a few carefless spelling mistakes. Also note that could not are two separate words; couldn't is one word.

Life took an unexpect turn. All of of a sudden, Jenny wanted to stop her marriage. She gave no explanation to everyone. When her parents, John and Mary, asked her what made her to withdraw it, she was bursting to tears. Her siblings were wondering what was the mysterious behind. Her mom tried to calm her down and hugged her. Her would-be husband Joe was sitting in the living room, talking to her father. Joe told him that he was infected with some incurable virus. John was listening attentaively, staring at Joe with his wide open eyes. John pushed himself up and restrained his temper. He gave no sympathy to Joe. In John's mind, he was thinking about that Joe was such as a filthy and dishonest man. The mother came out of her daughert's room. She was pale and disappointed. She always said that her daughter and Joe were such a perefect couples. She never questioned his character until now.

Jenny locked her self up, crying all day in her room. It was a shock to her. She couldnot stop thinking what Joe said to her while in the fancy restaurant. It was like the whole world stopped moving in front of her. She recalled that she was trembling when he confessed his disease. He had been wild when he was on his business trip. He laid different woman everyday. It had been like that for over five years. He found out his symptoms when his big body became purple, feeling weak. Then he went to see a doctor, taking a urine test. The docotor told him that he had a lethal disease. As of now, no cure has been found yet. He prescribed him pills to fight the antivirual disease. After hearing all his story, she immeaditely left out the restarunt. Her mind was totally blank. She was thinking his behaviour was so digusting. It couldnot be unforgivable. She was running block to block until she came back her house and closed her bed room door.

The Holy Bible in Puritansâ life
Puritan is the name given in the 16th century to the more extreme Protestants within the Church of England who thought the English Reformation had not gone far enough in reforming the doctrines and structure of the church; they wanted to purify their national church by eliminating every shred of Catholic influence.
The most obvious feature of this group is that they are religious people, and they were Calvinists. That is, puritans believed that the Bible contained God's authoritative revelation of truth, truth that applied to all realms of human life. Most Puritans used the Geneva Bible translation whose preface summarized what the Bible meant by calling it the "light to our path, the key to the kingdom of heaven, our comfort in affliction, our shield and sword against Satan, the source of all wisdom, the food for our souls, and the glass in which we see God's face." For them, the Scriptures provided the rule and guidance for all of life--government, economics, education, church, family, and morals. As puritan pastor Jeremiah Burroughs wrote, "First, when you come to hear the Word, if you would sanctify God's name, you must posses your souls with what it is you are going to hear. That is, what you are going to hear is the [very] Word of God in the Bible.â
Therefore, they did not allow the denying that the Bible is the Word of God. For example, On Nov.4th, 1646, the little Massachusetts Bay Colony passed a law prohibiting their people from denying that the Bible is the Word of God. The penalty for persistence in this error was death. The same act also set a fine of five shillings for failing to attend church on Sunday.
Puritans not only gave lip service to their religious beliefs, but they also practiced them devoutly in their daily lives.
The Puritans believed that man must follow the Bible exactly and try to communicate directly with God. In order to communicate with God there had to be no distractions from their religion. In order to achieve this, the Puritans held to an austere and Spartan lifestyle. Puritans immersed themselves in their work and avoided art, sculpture, poetry, drama or anything else that might be seen as a distraction. Even home furnishings were simply made of wood.
Thought the rules seem to be a little extreme to puritan, the Bible still played an active role in their lives. Such as the result of the lifestyle mentioned above was as a community that was wealthy and industrious.
Another benefit of the Puritanâs obsession with the Bible was the rapid rise in the rate of literacy. Puritans believed that people should use the Bible to connect directly to God, but the Satan was a reality who was determined to destroy this connection. Education enabled one to fortify himself with the strength of Biblical readings was a necessity. Thus, they put much attention on education.
Firstly, the church was the predominate force, and much teaching was of an ecclesiastical nature.
Puritan ministers, who knew the Word of God intimately, were vital to this activity. There were teachers, pastors, under-shepherds, and leaders, examples to the multitudes. They did not just study it; rather, it became part of them. Different from Anglican ministers, the Puritan preachers were not in it for the money at all, rather, they desired godliness and to glorify Christ. The Puritans were unanimous in voicing that the primary duty of the Preacher was preaching. For what could be more important than bringing the Word of God to the people?
Secondly, many young Puritans, primarily boys age six to eight, learned reading, spelling, and prayers at a "dame school," run very much like a home day care. Later, either the boys went on to a Latin grammar school to prepare for college and an eventual religious or political career or they trained in a trade. Girls usually continued their education -- in household skills -- at home. The Puritan ethic of child rearing was to train up children in the way they should go, to care for their bodies and souls together, and to educate them for sober, godly, socially useful adult living.
Whatâs more, Puritans thought much of family stability according to the sayings in the Holy Bible. Their ethic of marriage was to look, not for a partner whom you do love passionately at the moment, but rather for one whom you could love steadily as your best friend for life, and then to proceed with God's help to do just that. Such as John Woolmanâs said in his âThe Journal of John Woolmanâ: âAbout this time believing it good for me to settle and thinking seriously about a companion, my heart was turned to the Lord with desires that He would give me wisdom to proceed therein agreeable to His Willâ. The Puritan ethic of home life was based on maintaining order, courtesy, and family worship. Goodwill, patience, consistency, and an encouraging attitude were seen as the most essential domestic virtues.
In conclusion, the Holy Bible took a very important role in the Puritansâ lives. It guided every aspect of them. As a result, if people want to have a further understanding about this group, reading the Holy Bible first.
