Motivation letter! Would anyone check this for me, please?

Hi to everyone, I found this forum very useful and all of you guys helped a lot. :-) according to your advices and sample letters I tried to write my own motivation letter. I need it to apply for two-month working experience in England (within my studies). Could I ask anyone to check my letter, please please please? I am not english so as I suppose there are gonna be many mistakes. Sorry in advance! Thanks a lot!!! :-)

I am hereby writing to apply for a two-month working experience in England, in which I am particularly interested. My name is Katerina Vaculikova and I am a 21 years old student in my second year of studies, at the St. Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology, PalackÃ½ University, Olomouc. The purpose of this letter is not only to describe my educational and professional background, but also to focus your attention on how highly motivated I am for such an opportunity. I first became interested in social work through being involved into an integrating project for handicapped people under the aegis of EU, The Inclusion Czech republic. Within this project I was responsible for preparing and organising 2-day workshops as well as for keeping foreign relations, relations with donors and also with those who made this project really working â people with any kind of handicap. During the last two years of my studies, I went through my working experiences in a variety of institutional and other facilities and with many types of clients. As my school practices went on, I subsequently realised who I want to work whit. I feel the closest relation to the target group represented by elderly or mentally handicapped people. I know that I can offer them the best of myself, try to make their troubles more tolerable and accept them as unique beings. I can not even describe how satisfied and happy I always feel while working with them. Concerning my language skills, they are based on my working experiences abroad. I spent almost six months in London, working and discovering a beauty of England and I found this place very beautiful. This two-month working experience could give me a chance to improve my language skills and show me what the care is alike in one of the most advanced countries of the world. Because no matter where you are and no matter what you do, the main principle of social work should still be to help to the needed ones as much as possible. In order to be good and achieve high standards, I need to obtain not only theoretical, but also practical knowledge and I am convinced that this higher level of experience could help me to prove that. I would like to combine the knowledge I already know and any new information, align the knowledge and gain a wider perspective on the matter. Furthermore, I feel that such an opportunity is a way how to find out what I really want and if my life journey has taken the right direction. Taking this type of challenge can help me to discover what is truly hidden inside me. I first became interested in multimedia development and web-based applications twelve years ago. Since 2001, I am working as a project manager and developer in a leading internet agency in my country. It's probably just semantics. For me, a cover letter says why I am the the best choice for this position, based on my experience and skills, while a motivation letter says why I want the position. It's all about me and my thoughts, not the company and how I can benefit it.

Start as you've started - just say what is inside of you that makes you want to do this. Refer to the flash movie - saying something like (although use your own words and feelings of course!) "Making movies like the Flash presentation I've attached as a sample of my work is such an enjoyable experience, because I know I have a knack for the technology and it lets me join my creative side to my technical side" -- in other words, refer to the fact that it's there as a sample of the things you enjoy and are good at.

Hi Dora,

the best way to produce a text is to learn from the pros. What you need are good samples and not only on the Internet. Seek books and further papers.

Your text is way to long and I had some diffuculties to find any structure in it. After a while I got so frustrated that I had to gave up. Are you writing an essay or a letter? As for a letter it is so long that nobody whould try to read it. During my work in an Agency I avoided to read any letter longer then three pages and this is reality. Most of the people who are responsible for applications expect one or two pages. Even two are too much.

If you wish, you could send me a mail and I will send you a sample of my applications although not for an academic carreer but still.

Too creative or too conventional motivation letter?

IÂ´m in the process of writing my motivation letters for admission to PhD in Finance programs in the US. IÂ´ve found a handful of sample letters on the net. All of them are supposedly "winning" letters and follow this pattern:

"I want to do a PhD because I want to do research and teaching at a leading business school. My research interests are ....... . IÂ´m applying to *** school because of its strengths in ....... .

I have finished a masters degree at YYYY school, where I learnt ....... . This prompted me to research the ........... under professor ....... . This experience has strengthened my skills in ...... which I feel are a powerful asset for the PhD program in ..... .

I have also worked at CCCC where I have become a manager of ....... . My duties include ....... and I have achieved ....... . I will be able to reflect on my time and experiences at CCCC to become a successful PhD student.

On a personal side, I enjoy ..... and have participated in national competitions, winning ...... . I also volunteer at ....... weekly. I consider myself a well-rounded individual who can offer ....... to your business school, and look forward to becoming a member of your diverse, distinguised community."

This seems to be the pattern of most, if not all, PhD motivation letters IÂ´ve found online. Would presenting a letter written with this pattern invariably bore the adm committee? what if, on the other hand, my letter is too "creative" (for example, written as a story) and they donÂ´t take it seriously??

Im planning to apply for long stay visa to learn french in France but the embassy require a written motivation letter from me. Can anyone help me with this as i really have no idea how to write this. Or do anyone have any sample of this?

Please help as i need to submit the letter by next week.

I am currently employed in a very promising position in Bangalore at Molecular Connections Pvt. Ltd. I have been recognized and lauded for my knowledge of biochemistry, and I enjoy intellectual interactions with my Ph.D. colleagues; I am trained to think logically and solve problems. My peers consistently place me in a leadership position, and I have a reputation for performing well beyond what is expected. Still, I feel an empty place in my life. While my friends and colleagues do not understand my decision to leave this rewarding career, I know that I have no choice if I am to pursue my long-term goal and my childhood dream: to teach and to publish research. I think that I have made the right decision, although my friends think I am sacrificing certain career advancement for superfluous training. Excited since I was a child by the idea of becoming a scientist, my interest in pursuing graduate studies intensified during my undergraduate education and my initial research. Having a thirst for biology, I pursued my degree in Biochemistry at prestigious Vysya College, although I had opted for computer science in secondary school. With a chemistry background, I excelled in my undergraduate studies. My core subject became very interesting under the tutelage of an experienced faculty. I was even allowed to take biochemistry for twelfth grade students in my eleventh year, and that opportunity secured me a 1st grade in Human Physiology and Cell Biology.

As a day scholar, I worked without salary as a part-time trainee in their renowned clinical laboratory. There I learnt molecular techniques and research approaches in molecular biology. I also took a laboratory course exclusively for electrophoresis techniques at the Electrophoresis Institute, and my quest for advancement in biological sciences encouraged me to undertake clinical laboratory work at Gopi Hospitals. "One personâs life influences the lives of an unbelievable number of people," goes the saying, one of the most important lessons I have learnt. This experience taught me to be a responsible person and boosted my confidence. It also taught me that the bases for good work are self-reliance and personal time management. These three years were not free of shortcomings. I learnt to accept both criticism and praise with a positive frame of mind. My work involved organizing various events, which gave me the opportunity to work and interact with various kinds of people. This was a very gratifying experience for me, which I feel will stand me in good stead in the future.

I pursued my postgraduate degree in Biochemistry in order to gain basic eligibility for research. The core subject inspired me to carry the basics of biochemistry to undergraduate students, and I involved myself in self-help initiatives such as paper and poster presentations at various state-level seminars. In partial fulfillment of my postgraduate degree, I worked at the Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI-ADYAR) in the Department of Bioproducts. There, I worked on protein purification and its characterizations, which provided me a clear perspective of research and aided me in acquiring other molecular techniques.

As a prerequisite for attaining a PhD in Neurobiology, I underwent intense training in a course in Laboratory Animal Management at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. This course gave me practical exposure to isolating the brain and its major components. Drug administration and sample collection techniques with laboratory animals were also fundamental parts of this course.

My journey so far, from undergraduate student to current occupation, has been carefully planned. I believe that my determination to study further, my considerable laboratory experience, and my strong academic background in various areas of biochemistry will be very beneficial for my research work in your laboratory.
