I am new to this forum and I have discovered it when I was looking for formal letter samples. I want to apply to a College in Denmark and I want to have a chance to be chosen, so I am requiring help from anyone that is kind enough to offer it. I would also like to use the experience of interacting with the users of this forum to get prepared for the English test (sort of TOEFL, but not exactly) that I am required to pass for that College.
This is my letter of reference that I wrote for my teacher to sign. (I know this practice isn't the right way, but my teacher was very busy, so he asked me to do so). I would appreciate if you could have a look at it and spot mistakes and unusual phrases, if there are any.

I am a citizen of Georgia. I have always dreamed about to get education abroad and what about LLM course, German is perfect choice, as the law systems of our countries are quite close to each other.

First I learnt About The Europa-Institut Saarland University while browsing the internet. Than I started gathering information on you. Later I met a Georgian boy, who had taken a month course at your university and he persuaded me, to apply you by all means, as Saarlandes enjoys a high reputation, is ranked as the âtop university in Germany for internationality of trainingâ, imparts highest quality education and is very convenient for me, as I want to take LLM course in Germany, but in English. So I have great desire to take this course at your university, because I am motivated to evolve constantly and to equip myself with the knowledge and power to succeed in the future

I am applying you for the LLM program in English, for the period of 2008-2009 academic years. Recently, I have graduated with a bachelor degree in jurispudence from Ivane Javaxishvili Tbilisi State university. I continued to study here and now I am Master student and I will graduate it by the end of 2008 year.

I also have proof of good knowledge of English language (TOEFL IBT certificate). Unfortunately I do not know German, but I will start studying it as soon as I arrive in Germany, so I think it will not be great obstacle for admission, as whole course is studied in English.

Besides, this academic education, I used to take private lessons in English (for 9 years). I have taken TOEFL course at International Training and Education Centre (ETI), also have taken Cambridge certificate course at school Mayflower.

Despite of the theoretical education, I have a little practical experience too. I have worked on probation for 15 weeks at the Appellate Court of Tbilisi and have just finished the course. Through this period I have developed excellent communication skills, as I used to have everyday contact with people of different nations and different social conditions. I can also say, that I am a real workaholic, purposeful, creative, adaptable, confident, with strong organizational skills. During the bachelor course, I have had a variety of social activities all of which have required me to work as part of a team to problem solve with cooperative attitude, so I have good team working skills

My name is Alejandro Lopez and I am a 22 years old, highly motivated student at the University of Valencia, Spain. Currently, IÂ´m in my last year of a five year barchelorâs degree in Physics.

This year I am in Barcelona at Universidad AutÃ³noma of Barcelona with a spanish exchange program ( SICUE -SENECA) and in June i will be taking my final exams in Cosmology, standard model, relativiy , quantum computation and matter-light interaction.

I have always thought that theory is the basis of everything, but at the same time I am convinced that experience is what makes a person unique. I think that summer program can definitely provide a rare oportunity for gaining the valuable âhands- on experienceâ that I am looking for.

I am convinced that the experience of joining in a reserach group will be very helpful for me to further develop myself and to improve my knowledge. I am confident that the courses that i have taken will make me a good candidate for this intership.

I also would like to know more about German culture and society. Germany has a rich cultural and spiritual heritance i would like to live. I also would like to learn another language and experience another educational system.

Because of I have studied English over many years i think the languaje will not be a problem. I am a good learner and have fluent English; two years ago I successfully passed the FCE Cambridge and TOEFL Examination . In order to become much better, last year I had the chance to attend University of Texas in Austin with an internationAL exchange program. . I found that I was able to learn better residing in the country and I greatly appreciated the cultural experience because it gave me a unique motivation for further improvement in language.

My personal intention is to make a Master and then a PhD and follow an academic career as a university teacher. I think Germany is the ideal place to study more and gain as much knowledge, experience I can. My name is Klajdi Turlla. I was born and raised in Albania. Living in the capital city of my country I have been able to observe my country economical development. Since 1990 after the collapse of the dictatorial regimen Albanian business was improved very quickly. Now in Albania thousand of business offers their service to the community. This is a very positive thing for the Albanian development. Being successful in the business field needs a lot of business knowledge. Business studies are available even in Albania but our universities do not accomplish the European standards.

Since I was a little boy I had the desire to become a successful businessman. My parents also are involved in the business world and I want to continue and improve what they have achieved so far. The only way to make this dream come true is studying in a European school. There are many reasons for my desire to study at **** College. I think the program offered is the right for me. For my opinion British programs are the best. Studying in your college will give me the opportunities to find a job right after graduation. Also as an international student I think I can find the needed support. Furthermore I think Prague is a grate city.

To study at your college English language is very important. I have learned english since third grade (at age of 10) in public school and later in several private courses. Of course that the only way to confirm that my english is at the required level I have to do exams that shows my english proficiency. Iâll do the TOEFL test and than Iâll announce you my result.

Society is very important to me. I spend the most of the free time with my best friends. As we live in the biggest city of Albania the ways to pass the free time are a lot. Usually we play football, basketball or bowling. In the weekend we go to a party or to quiet places of the city where we can enjoy the day in peace. When Iâm at home I like to read, surf in the internet, play guitar or watching TV. A lot of my social activities are planned by the school. Trips are organized in cultural and beautiful places in Albania.

I am writing to apply for the *** at *** University in Tokyo.

I am currently studying Business and Economics at the University of ***. My major will be financial markets and international economics. I expect to graduate with a Masters Degree after the next two terms in spring 2007.

I am applying to this program because I would like to improve my skills with regard to establishing relations between different cultures. During my internship at *** I gained an insight into the business of improving relations with and acquiring potential clients from Middle East. I learned how important it is to know about the tradition, customs and language of your business partners the gain their confidence. With regard to my major goal, to work for an international company which does business with Japan, I understand how extremely important it is to obtain an excellent understanding of your counterpart and I believe the best way to do so is to live with them. To get a somewhat closer to this dream and the intention to study for Japanese Proficiency Test, I started attending Japanese language classes in spring 2005.

Furthermore, I see the *** program, with its broadly diversified courses, as an opportunity to improve my social and cultural understanding, because it is not limited to economics subjects. It would give me the opportunity to enter the academic fields from a different viewpoint, which would broaden my knowledge.

Beside the academic reasons I mentioned above, I also have personal reasons for applying for the *** program. After I finished my Bachelor Degree I spent four months in Australia studying for the Cambridge Advanced Exam, which I passed. (This is the equivalent of a TOEIC score between 701 and 910, and a TOEFL score between 92 and 112.) During this time I was able to establish a great network with people from all over the world. I could also make some Japanese friends who invited me last autumn to visit them and showed me their country. The insight I gained during that period was such a tremendous experience that I definitely wish to deepen my knowledge of Japanese culture. Studying abroad for one year in Japan would offer me the possibility to live the everyday life in Japan and help me with this. Finally, I see the chance to improve my Japanese as the key to the understanding of this culture.

I do not underestimate going abroad for one year to a country with a completely different culture, but I definitely believe I am capable and I will do everything to ensure that I give it my upmost to contribute and gain the most I can.

According to reports from prior students and my Japanese friends, I know that *** University has an excellent reputation as one of the best private universities which provides international educational experience. The opportunity to participate in this student exchange program would provide enormous academic and personal benefits to me, and would help me to achieve my ultimate goal of obtaining employment in which I can do business with Japan.

In June I will graduate with a bachelorâs degree in sociology with focus on business. I am highly motivated to continue my study at the *** University. It is the master of human resource management I chose because it combines business and social science which are fields I am already familiar with. By following this program I can enhance my basic knowledge to become specialised. The benefit I expect is to realize my intention to work in the human resource management.

To understand the organisational behaviour I did a dual apprenticeship at XY GmbH for two years. This multinational enterprise offered me the opportunity to gain insight the operational sequences of an industrial firm. I supported the everyday business in many departments, such as human resource management relations, sales, marketing, accounting, logistics, customer services and the purchasing department. It required the ability to work productively and co-operatively in different kinds of group, to work under pressure, to manage time well and of course IT skills. It was the department of human resource management that I was most interested in. There I helped to prearrange and accomplish the recruiting procedure.

At the same time I received the theoretical background at the BLA Chamber of Commerce. My subjects were industrial business management, accounting, organisation, automatic data processing and economics and civics. After two years I took four exams which I passed with a good mark and in that moment I decided to work in the profession of human resource management.

Also another apprenticeship at *** GmbH in Switzerland reconfirmed my intention.

Since I enjoyed working in the human resource management I decided to develop my knowledge in social science by studying sociology with focus on business. At the University XYZ I took courses regarding the organisational behaviour and structure of institutions, communication and industry. By doing research I became familiar with information retrieval and I learned to solve problems independently. It also enabled me to think analytically and critically. Due to my double degree program I participated in I spent one year in X/Italy at the universitÃ degli studi di XY. During this year I learned Italian and I also received the Italian âLaurea Triennaleâ which is the equivalent of the German bachelor degree.

By spending nine months in Boston/ USA at the XZ International Language I had the chance

to improved my English which I already studied for nine years. To verify my knowledge I will take the TOEFL in April 2006 and hand the results in to you.

The experiences I made in the USA, Italy and Switzerland made me flexible and open-minded. In addition I acquired a multicultural understanding and the ability to interact with different natures.

The combination of practical and theoretical background I gained as well as the personal skills and key competences I bring with make me a suitable applicant for the program of human resource management. I am very enthusiastic to continue my studies in Great Britain because the education system is famous for its high quality and especially the *** University has a very good reputation forâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦..
