Punctuation: needs to be checked over
Hi, I would really appreciate anyone who could check over these sentences to ensure all the punctuation is correct. This is an assignment for a correspondence course I'm taking, and I think I have them mostly right but I'd like to be sure. (This lesson focuses mainly on the period,...

Re: organize a trip
You have problems with spacing around punctuation, and you have spurious double spaces in a number of places. I have corrected these below. The other changes that I made to the date formats are not because what you had was wrong, but just to make them all consistent. Dear colleagues , ...

Re: dates
You do not need to spell out dates in this context: October 7, 2007 OR 7 October 2007 is fine. With large numbers, the punctuation is: 1000 10,000 100,000 1,000,000 So your number would appear as: 1,000,345

Re: using comma in date format
Hi Bhc Dates are written in various ways in English. A comma is most often used between numbers only: 13th June 2007 13 June 2007 June 13th, 2007 June 13, 2007 The last one is very common in America. There has been a growing tendency in BrE to drop unnecessary punctuation, which has led to some...

Question about writing an English CV
I am French, leaving in the US and need to prepare a CV and a letter of motivation for a position in the UK. In reading many posts on this (neat) forum, I noticed that there are many differences in the format of CVs for each country and I would like to make sure that what I read seems...

Re: Would be great if someone could proof read the following ...
As it's your thesis I don't think it is right to help you too much but I've highlighted some of the problems for you. Your punctuation is a bit iffy too in places. You seem to like the phrase 'on the fly'. This is slang and not appropriate for a thesis. As Semantic eMail Addressing is...

Re: dashes---causing problems or solving them?
Forgive me, but what do you mean by a “dash.” All the examples here show two hyphens. These are not dashes. There are three types of dashes, namely Hyphens, Em Dashes and En Dashes The hyphen is the shortest of the three and is used most commonly to combine words (compounds such as...

Re: Would you please correct my essay
Hi Paco, Just a few minor adjustments on your fine job of revision, including corrections of what may have just been typos. (I didn't get too critical of punctuation because it's too often too debatable). Hello Diary! Today something terrible happened. My personal hero J. F Kennedy has...
