Hi!

A company has sent me the following email to arrange a telephone interview with me. I've written the answer but I'd be really grateful if someone could check it. I find that my answer is too abrupt and I believe that what they want with this email is to check my English. I don't want to sound pompous either.

Hallo everyone,

I used to live in England (when I was 11), I now live in the Netherlands. I have a question, im translating a letter for my work experiance. Can you all just have a quick look at the letter and if there are any real big misstakes just note them?

I know its quite alot, but I really want the letter to be perfect and I just don't trust myself.

Hi,

We haven't seen each other since we met for our grandfather's birthday in June of last year at ***. As you might have guessed already ... yes, we have our grandmother's 60s birthday coming up; in fact, it is 15 short days away from it.

We need to move fast and makes these arrangements: Did anyone arrange for a place to hold the birthday party? I think there will be around 50 people, mostly relatives of both grandmother's and grandfather's sides showing up for the event-- I am making that number up based on how many people showed up last year. How about our first cousin living in ***. Since he is living abroad, do we need to send the invitation now? Should we inform him of the event by phone, regular mail or express mail? Who is going to manage the expenses involved in getting a restaurant space, assuming we have the party at a restaurant, and the expenses involved?

I think we have many decisions to make but time we have a little time in our hands. Let's discuss these things and get things organized -- the faster we get them organized, the better it is, I think. John, I think you were the person who arranged everything for our grandfather's birthday last year -- I think everyone liked the arrangement, expecially the place (was it *** in Seoul?). Since everyone was happy with it, how about you coming out with a place -- do you have any other special place, like a restaurant, in mind, where it is located centrally so everyone can get to the place easily by car or subway? Spring is here whch means that we, the Annual Banquet Preparation Committee, should be running around to get this banquet ready and that is exactly what we have doing for the past two months. Also, we have been contacting a prominent member of our profession to speak to us at the banquet and I have a feeling that that person will be a very high-ranking, prominent politician - you would know who he is instantly if I mentioned his first name!
