Motivational Letter for a denied Visa

Hi Everybody.

I really need some assistance. I recently applied for an American seasonal work visa (H2B) but was unfortunately denied because the telephone number on the letter head was non existent, (I cant believe it either). I am attempting to reapply for the visa and must provide an accompanying motivational letter. I am from South Africa and am going to america to work in a country club, I have been there once before last year for 6 months.

I am well aware that this in not a letter writing service but was just wondering if the following issues/points are relevant to be incuded in the letter.

* I am a recent graduated from University and hold a BCom Marketing Management degree
* I hold a british passport (my parents are british) and thus have no intention of immigrating
* Perhaps explain that there was a misunderstanding regarding the telephone number on the letter head and reiterate the fact that I am currently working for this company (on a part time basis) and will be returning to them to be employed in a full capacity.
* I was issued an american visa before and returned within the allotted period
* Perhaps finish off by saying that I enjoyed the diversity and cultural richness of the country and I want to bring the international "experience" and skill to be implemented into my current occupation in South Africa.

I need to process this within the next day or two, please can anyone assist me urgently. Thank you in advance

Dear Sir

Eighteen years have elapsed since the Tiananmen Square Massacre. The immediate response after the tragedy adopted by the Singapore government to continue maintaining and promoting intimate relationship with the culprits of the atrocities, in contrast to the condemnation and economic sanctions by most developed countries, has brought tremendous detrimental effects to Singaporeâs international prestige. Today, as China is engaged in another incidence of human rights abuse in the Darfur region of Sudan, I am writing to urge your excellent Administration to take a stance, which I expect to display more prudence and present Singapore as a nation that is not only economically prosperous, but also diplomatically active and morally responsible.

As a dictatorial regime with an appalling record of domestic human rights abuses, the Chinese government is now underwriting its second genocide abroad. The first was in Pol Pot's Cambodia, and the second is now raging unabated in Darfur. Villages have been razed, women and girls are systematically raped and branded, men and boys murdered, and food and water supplies targeted and destroyed. All these human sufferings are orchestrated by the Sudan government. However, so far the biggest obstacle to forceful action against the genocide is China. Chinese oil purchases have financed Sudan's pillage of Darfur, Chinese-made AK-47's have been the main weapons used to slaughter the innocent, and China has protected Sudan in the U.N. Security Council in order to keep the cooperative but genocidal regime in power.

About 60 percent of Sudan's oil flows to China, and Sudan predominantly depends on China for investment and technology. This close relationship, while being the major reason behind the continuous Chinese connivance and protection, also puts China in a unique position to exert pressure on the Sudan government. Hence, it is my conviction that the key to peace in Darfur is the support from China, the only country capable of ending the genocide by using its unmatched influence to convince Sudan to cooperate with international efforts to end the violence. Some heartening steps has already been taken, the most prominent of which was the resolution recently approved by the Senate of the United States, calling on China to use its âunique influence and economic leverageâ to stop the ongoing genocide in Darfur. It is now time for the Singapore government to join the international community and urge the Chinese government to take up a more constructive and responsible role as a global stakeholder instead of playing the knowing and willing accomplice of the genocide.

In my humble opinion, a number of policy options are currently available to the Singapore government. Diplomatic concern or dismay over Chinaâs role in Darfur might be expressed by ambassadors or government officials in multilateral forums, state visits or other public occasions, thereby sending a strong official message to Beijing. Such a clear statement of Singaporeâs stance is of paramount importance not only because Singapore is one of Chinaâs major trading partners, but also because it demonstrates that the opposition against Chinaâs role in Darfur is not merely the result of the Westâs âobsessionâ with human rights, as so often misperceived by the Chinese government, but is also echoed in the rest of the world, even in regions with which China shares similar ethnic and cultural background. Besides being more vocal, the Singapore government may bring direct economic pressure to bear on targeted Chinese perpetrators, especially PetroChina, a Singapore-listed Chinese oil company that is one of the most notorious offenders in helping fund the genocide.

It is almost certain that harsh criticism against the Chinese government would strain the bilateral relationship and hurt Singaporeâs commercial interest in the short run. Convinced that a democratic government should be ultimately accountable to its own electorates and expected to advance the interest of the people it represents, I still believe it is a noble act of statesmen to pursue international justice and peace, even if such a course of action will bring them challenges from the public and risk their career. Although the Singapore government has long differed from the West in its views on human rights and practiced interest-oriented pragmatism in foreign affairs, it is beyond doubt that what we are currently witnessing in Darfur is, by any measure, one of the most catastrophic humanitarian crises in the human history, with far-reaching moral implication that transcends any concern over material wealth. Anything short of full commitment to ending the violence in Darfur, particularly nonchalant acquiescence due to vested interests, is hardly justifiable and potentially shameful.

From a long-term perspective, it is indeed in Singaporeâs national interest to prompt China to reconsider its diplomatic strategies in vying for regional leadership of Africa as well as other parts of the world. Rapidly ascending in the international hierarchy, China has wielded significant influence in the Asia Pacific region. For the future peace, prosperity and progress of the Asia Pacific region, with which Singaporeâs fate is closely related, China must learn to exercise caution and self-restraint when deploying its growing international power, and Darfur may well be its first lesson.

As the haunting memory of inaction over Cambodia, Rwanda and Bosnia is still lingering in the darkest corner of the collective consciousness of humanity, Darfur is another litmus test for how much we have learned. It definitely requires admirable moral courage and political will for a small city-state like Singapore to dissent from the foreign policies of a major global power like China, but the conscience of some Singaporean citizens, in a perturbed state ever since the Tiananmen Square Massacre, may come to rest if this time round, the government would actively take a firm stand against politically motivated violence. As a steadfast supporter of Singapore government, I have faith in your determination and competency to achieve this.

I truly appreciate your dedicated service to the nation on the diplomatic frontier and I look forward to your continued contribution to world peace.

I am writing in regards to my interest in your advertised Production Test Specialist position, job number GA7470201. Previously, I worked at DataPath Inc. as an Electrical/Mechanical Assembler Tech. As an assembler, I wired and installed electrical panel, and terminated cables for proper connection to use in a compact trailer-based earth terminal that delivers secure, robust communications at the battalion level for communications on the quick halt (COTQH). I am also familiar with 12Volt battery and battery relay. Furthermore, I used function generator, oscilloscope analyzer, and digital multi-meter regularly in the technology lab at our University. During my academic years, I have learned and experienced multi-tasks and knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. With my experience and knowledge, I feel that I am highly qualified for the position.

Iâll be graduating from Southern Polytechnic State University with a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. I am proficient in Assembly Language, VHDL, MatLab, MathCad, and LabView. I also have strong understanding in circuit analysis. I am an expert in multi-tasking, performing various electrical and mechanical duties.

I am the moderator who has been directing a few people to your site. When I am unable/unwilling to provide extensive assistance, I have instead directed them to you.

In the two writing sections (writing world, letter writing), you will note that the top two posts (Post 1, Post 2) deal with requesting assistance. In first post, point number 8 directly says that the posts are open to the world. So be careful what you write. The second post discusses more information about motiviation letters.

If a person is unwilling to have their information shared with the world, there is little we can do for him or her on a go forward basis. We rarely respond by personal e-mail. Unlike you with your paid service, we give of our time and efforts freely. Our hope and aim is that by directly helping one person, we indirectly help many. And when a student needs extensive assistance, I either recommend that they contact you or that they seek other assistance.

Some people have written received a lot of assistance with their motivation letters here and others not so. Having our work available for others to view is, in a way, our payment. As mentioned, our goal is to help as many people as possible.

Post 1 in point 8 openly mentions the privacy issue. Moreover, it ought to be obvious that if you write something in an open forum, it is open.

Personally, I would very much dislike to assist others and then have them request that all the information be removed. That is very unfair to those who have assisted because, in effect, we have then provided very personalized assistance without any renumeration.

In most cases, the information contained within a motivation letter is unique to that individual. While there might be some key phrases etc., I suspect not much will be borrowed or lifted directly. But, for other students, they can benefit being seeing the tone and structure of the letter. That, to them, is very beneficial.

Most often universities request that the letters be written by the students themselves. That to me is where the privacy issue comes into play.

I suspect if this student is very concerned with her post being visible to the world at large, we will delete it. (I have to check with the forum owner.) I don't think we want to make someone uncomfortable. But I also think the request is somewhat unfair to those of us who gave of our time freely in the expectation that we would help others.

So are far as the individual is concerned, if she wants further guidance from English Forums in the future with her homework or whatever, she has to recognize that her homework will be available to the world. We want it to be that way. We want to spread our knowledge as far and wide as possible. If she wants private and discreet assistance, she can contact you or others that provide private assistance.

To bring this note to a close, please leave a message in the appropriate forum where her message was written. Address it to MountainHiker and provide the link or message number where her message is written and someone will delete it.

1. I am a software consultant and must travel extensively for consultations. On the 10th of July I travelled to Sâ for consultation and I subsequently continued commuting to Sâ.

2. On 24th July, my vehicle was stopped by an inspector when I was taking my seriously-ill son to the hospital. I was not speeding, but was not in a perfect state of mind, so I wrote whatever was dictated to me by the inspector.

3. The home address provided to me by the company belongs to Mr. X and there is an agreement between the company and Mr. X.

4. I am a permanent resident of Delhi, proof of which is attached (Ration Card).

5. I still carry a Delhi Reliance Number, and bear the cost of transportation, as I have no plans to remain permanently in Sâ.

I am writing inasmuch I would like to receive information on the acceptability of Polish qualifications. By dint of having studied carefully your website on requirements for prospective students from the EU I now have a general thought of ***âs admission standards but I am hoping for some further information referring my cause.
I will graduate from high school in June 2005 previously having taken the "Nowa Matura" ("The New Matura") exam.
Unlike in the old Matura exam, which was an internal exam followed by acquiring "Swiadectwo dojrzalosci" with each marks (from 1 - lowest to 6 - highest), the "Nowa Matura" is an external exam. It is not only more impartial but also Matura scores will be used for university admission purposes because the tests predict college success. Subject tests measure knowledge or skills in a particular subject and studentâs ability to apply that knowledge. All official documents refer to the old Matura as to "Egzamin Dojrzalosci" and to "Nowa Matura" as to "Matura". It consists of two parts: oral and written, each consisting of compulsory and additional subject tests. Every subject test, excluding polish language test in oral part, can be passed on elementary or advanced level. Students who are to receive "Swiadectwo Maturalne" are expected to have taken following compulsory tests:

WRITTEN MATURA EXAM:

2. Modern Foreign Language Test (It has to be the same language as chosen by a student in oral part of the exam)
3. A test from a subject of studentâs individual choice from the following list: biology, chemistry, physics with astronomy, geography, history, history of music, history of art, mathematics, "wiedza o spoleczenstwie" and dance theory.
4. Minority Language Test (Refers to minority members)

In order to pass the Matura exam and acquire "Swiadectwo Maturalne" a student has to get at least 30 percent of maximum number of points available at the elementary level. In case of language exams a student has to get 30 percent of points both on oral and written parts.
In addition to compulsory subject tests student can choose up to three additional subject tests (from given list) which he has to take on advanced level.
In oral part of the exam a student can choose another modern foreign language test (different from the compulsory) and/or ethnical group language test.
In written part a student can choose up to three subject tests from the following: biology, geography, chemistry, physics with astronomy, history, history of music, history of art, computer science, Greek with antique culture, Latin with antique culture, modern foreign language (from the same group as in oral compulsory part), ethnical group language, mathematics, "wiedza o spoleczenstwie", dance theory.

"Wiedza o spoleczenstwie" stands for "society science" - it is a new subject which combines modern history, social science, pre-law studies, economy, journalism and politics. In Poland all major universities require prospective law students to have taken the "wiedza o spoleczenstiwe" Matura test on advanced level.
By 30 September we were to declare subjects taken on the Matura and their level. I have declared exams in advanced English, advanced history and advanced "wiedza o spoleczenstwie". I will be also taking on Polish language test (compulsory). In order to fulfil ***'s English language requirements I will be taking the IELTS.
I am interested in applying for admission to the LLB degree programme in Law and I would like to know how would my Matura scores be recognized by the *** ***? From the lecture of ***'s webpage for prospective students I have learned that I should consult Laws Faculty Office on the recognition of Access Courses. Does *** organizes such courses for prospective law students and should I pursue admission at one?

2. Or should I cut the above part out and enclose it at the bottom of the letter. I would consider placing asterisk somewhere: maybe "By 30 September we were to declare subjects taken on the *** and their ***." ?
