Hi! I am writing a mail, and I have found that curious problem. I was talking about my boyfriend and I, and laterly about my girl friend - the person who was been written - and I. Both cases are we, but I wonder if there is any way to differentiate between them. Fo example in that paragraph:

We are going to travel a lot this summer, therefore we could go to the beach together!

In my opinion, it is funny too the you case. If someone kindly says me:

Hey, I invite you to dinner at home!

is he trying to be alone with me (uh, uh) or he wants to chat about the Football World Cup with my bf - this is, is a collective invitation-?

Ops, a final question: I have read girlfriend -one word- talking about just good girl friends. Is that correct of the lack of blank space implies necesarily a love affair?

Sorry Clive, but so how would you suggest I finish the last paragraph then?
Really when I respond to this invitation I thought my husband was in fact invited, but after I've heard from others at the office, I was not sure anymore. My husband and I are closer to the couple and he is the expection in this respect with the my coworker's spouses.

could I just say

Thank you for your understanding. or something on this lines?

Hi!

You use both the British and the American spelling. Be consequent: use either the British one or the American one. I've used the British spelling for my corrections as that is what you used in the first paragraphs

Good luck! Judging from your essay, I would say that your chances to be admitted are substantial. You seem to be a very motivated person. I think your friends are not mistaken!

Born into a family of passionate pedagogues, I quickly learned the importance of working in a team and serving the community the hard way. For upper intermediate businessmen I use almost exclusively found news articles from the newspaper or magazine. If you let him choose the article from his newspaper or magazine, it ensures that outside of class, he (1) buys and reads or at least browses through one English language periodical per week, and (2) does a little thinking in English about it. It also ensures (3) a topic he is interested in.

You probably know the standard techniques for working with periodical articles: have the student read through the article and/or you read and he listens then answers your questions about the content; correct his pronunciation and ensure he knows the vocabulary; ask related questions about it, initiate conversation. The main problem is that with careless teachers this becomes rote, with the teacher sitting chin-on-hand while the student plods through a reading, both nodding in their seats. But if you are alert to the possibilities-- introducing topic-associated vocabulary, bringing to notice grammar points as they occur, constantly intercalating invitations to discussion-- you will find current periodicals a perfect renewable resource. Use the unique clues in each article to lead you to what needs to be taught that day-- points of grammar, structure, vocabulary, listening, or pronunciation.

As you learn the student's interests, you can begin selecting your own articles on those topics from periodicals or the internet-- and these have the advantage that you can develop them ahead of time, creating gapping activities (delete every tenth word of the first paragraph and have the student insert them after listening to your reading of it), matching activities (separate the captions from the maps), and a number of other tasks available in most ESL teacher resource and guide texts.
