If you think about something, you are more engaged in cogitating about it than when you only think of it. The pronoun after the preposition (of/about) may be either in possessive (his, their, your, etc.) or accusative case (him, them, you, etc.). The former is more formal.

Pronouns are accusative after "be". "it's me," "it's them", not "it's I" and "it's they". The latter are comprehensible, but out of date. I'd say even formal English uses "it's me". If you say "it's I" you will sound very old-fashioned.
