They have internal system to fill a application form before I proceed further. Therefore, I need to fill a application form to complete formalities. I struck when I fill relationship column, I need to fill four professional references, out of which two are ex-supervisors(boss). I cant use the word friend, ex-supervisor, relative. But I see Mr. XYZ has jumped three companies from 2006, Also, the present company he joined recently and wants to move from there. We need to check his background or reference from his previous employers before we call for an interview. I suggest we should get some good candidates thru job consultants. I list below popular manpower consultant websites. We need to register by paying minimal amount and can chat online to get good candidates

Regards

Please correct my letter to my new employer

I am drafting a letter to my new employer to clarify the clauses in the contract.
Thank you very much in advance.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to confirm in receipt from you an offer of employment letter, a template of reference form and a contract of employment which were sent to me on the 25th April 2008. I am pleased to receive an offer from ABC plc one week prior the start date of the job, this allow me to make the necessary arrangement with my school and current employer.

I have reviewed the received documents and would like to enquire a few queries as follow: -

In the offer of employment letter, should my commencement date of working be on 2nd May 2008 instead of 2nd April 2008?

Please advise the requirement for the reference form. Am I responsible to request a reference from 2 of my previous employers and require them to return the forms directly to the ABC plc's England registered office in Surrey? I am concerned that the process might take longer than one week and as a result this might have an affect on my commencement date of employment which is stated on the contract as 2nd May 2008.

In the contract of employment clause 1 and 2, should my commencement of employment date be on the 2nd May 2008 instead of 25th April 2008?

In the contract of employment clause 16.a.iii, it stated that whether during or outside office hours, I shall not be allowed to engage in other work without ABC plc's written permission. Does this clause apply to me as a part time Book Keeper? As a matter of needful, I am considering to continue working with my present job in weekends. Could you provide me an written permission to enable me to work for another job outside office hours?

Statutory or company's maternity leave scheme is not covered in the contract of employment, please advise.

Am I eligible for any other company's benefit schemes apart from the mentioned company pension scheme in the contract of employment, which I can join after three months from my commencement date of employment?

Could I have a copy of the original signed contract of employment before or on the commencement date of work?

I have another question regarding this matter. They only asked for 3 months pay slip. But
currently I only have two of them. I promise to them to send another pay slip
because I only send two of them since I just start working here for 2 months.
Now, I already have the third one. During the interview, they told me that the
result for the interview will be known after 2 weeks. Today is the first week.
Should I send email to them and asking the status. I don’t want to look too
desperate to them even though I really want this job. I also worried if the
expected salary that I put is too high.

Your advice on this matter
would be most appreciated. Here is the email draft to them.

Dear George,

As promised, attached is my
pay slip for this month. May I know what is the current status of my job
application for the post Consultant at your esteemed established organization.
(or is there any better idea to put this email in the most polite and better so
the chance for me to get this job is high)

I look forward to hearing
from you soon.

A "chat" is far too casual a word - this is an interview and you should consider it as such. Don't make the mistake that this is an informal situation - your e-mail it too casual and your must make it more formal, and you must approah this phone interview as an interview and not a friendly chat.

Let them suggest the time.

If it was only a couple days ago, then don't apologize for your "late response" - it was a weekend, after all. Do NOT delay in replying next time - they will think you are not serious about the job.

Dear Ms. Name,

Thank you for your e-mail. I was very happy to hear from you.

You are correct that for the past year, my work has been as more of a consultant, but in my prior position as an engineer at XYZ, my role was operational. I do enjoy both types of work and employing the different skill sets for each.

I would be very pleased to speak by phone at your convenience. [If there are times you cannot do this, the say something like "any afternoon at your convenience" or any times Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday of this week at your convenience" or something like that.]

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you again, and best regards,

A couple of days ago, I attended an interview at Company
ABC. The job scope and environment seems very interesting. After interview
session, I sent them thank you letter thru email and they reply my mail a few
hours later.

In their mail, they asked me to send my salary slip before they can make an offer since
they haven’t see it during the interview session. Here is my draft to them.
Kindly please proof read it. Your advice and suggestion would be very much
appreciated.

Thanks for your email. Attached are the two of my past
salary slips for the last two months as I started work here on February 2008. I
will send salary slip for April on 26. I have also attached the copies my
certificate for your reference and further action.

Here is my situation. I have
important interview in a couple of days and I have to prepare for it. Last
year, I had new job and I really like that job. Unfortunately, bad things
happened which is out of our control. The company got some financial problems
and they fail to pay our salary in a few months. Due to that reason, I decide
to send my resume and finally this year, I manage to get a new job.

Again, bad things happened. The work
environment here is not as expected. The job scope is out of expertise, I was
given unrelated job, didn’t get enough resource to do a job such as didn’t have
notebook and Internet access. Simple to say, everything is wrong and boring. I
also didn’t have a chance to learn and do the things I like.

Based on that reasons, I decide to
submit my resume again. I really wanted this job and I like the job scope. But
I’m very sure about one thing. They going to ask me

“I saw some pattern pertaining to
your job history. Last year you got a new job and this year you got another
job. And today, you’re looking for another job again. Can you tell me why this
happened? And are you gonna stay here for a long time?”

Here is my draft to answer for that
question.

“Last year, I being offered as a
Consultant and I really like that job. The job scope, environment, I had a
chance to learn a new things, the things that I like most in this career. I
never plan to leave while I worked with this company. Unfortunately, bad things
happened which is out of our control. The company got some financial problems
and they fail to pay our salary for a couple of months. Due to that reasons, I
decide to looking for another job and finally I got this job as a Auditor.

But again, I didn’t get the things
that was being promised while they interview me. I got not resource to do the
job, no internet access, no notebook, and doesn’t have a chance to improve
myself in technical. I have good technical background and suddenly I have to do
the things that doesn’t related to my job.

I’m very sure with your esteemed
established company with a lot of technical expertise there, I’m more than
happy working with them. I’m sure that I can improve and enhance myself
especially in technical expertise and hopefully it can help your company in research
and development”

How about that? And then before I leave
from the interview session, can I say this

“I appreciate the time you took in discussing this opportunity
with me. I am very interested in working for you and look forward to hearing
from you further. Thanks”

Is it the best way to end up the
interview session? Or any better idea so I can get a new job and start a new
life.

Your advice and comment would be
very much appreciated.

Thanks and best regards,

Sir, You met him/her. Use his name, eg Dear Mr. Smith

I came for an interview with you around three months ago. It was more than an interview for me; it was a great learning session. We signed off on the note that you would notifyme of your decision within a week or so. To date, I have not heard from you. Perhaps I did not fit your parameters. However, that interview really inspired me to work even harder. I would like to request a little more of your time so I can come down and show you my new work, to get constructive feedback which will help me in my career.

If you could take some time over the weekend, I would really appreciate it because I am passionate to perfection and very hungry to learn.

Regards,

I've corrected your English. However, if I may say so, I don't think this letter is a good idea. The person already gave you some of their time, and I wouldn't ask for more. Your last sentence, in particular, seems unwise to me. Are you really asking this person to give you time out of his weekend? And the final part of the sentence seems too hyperbolic to me.

Anyway, good luck.
