No one denies the importance of English language in the present time as global language. It is clear that the English language has become more dominant around the world. In some countries it use as the mother tongue and ,other countries learn it as second language in their schools. This is make English widespread. In addition, many reasons which contributed to rising of English spreading . for example, use it for communication between people around the world, as well as, it is language of modern times. On other hand , English is the language of science and technology.

There is no doubt that, the English is language of communication between the people with different cultures . It is also the language of computers that help to communicate with the people around the world through Internet technology and e-mail. People who know English can deal with the Internet, which is regard information and communications revolution .

Also one of reasons that contributed to the spread of English that, it is the language of the modern era. Where the people are use it in various field of life such as, economy, e-commerce, medicine and aviation. In addition ,it is the language which use in the tourism and travel. This reasons motive the people to learn English .

One of the main reasons why the English is dominant in the present time, use it in the field of education by universities and institutes and, they use it in scientific research . It has become an addendum to the mastery of scientific individual stock. On the other hand, the English is an important requirement in most government jobs and private.

It is quite clear that English has become an necessity today. We need it in different fields of life . The English language has become easier to learn more than ever before with the availability of many sources to help people learn very easily. Such as the Internet, books and educational institutes which spread around the world.

You're reading too much of someone else's posting (won't mention any names) and getting into his poor, standardized patterns.

They are not others' posting; instead they are my homework. Some are from English magazine and some from the pop quizzes. I've to make sure what sounds bad and correct them before I present them to my pupils.

You'll never know how difficult English is for us if you never wear our shoes and walk a few miles. Well, learnig English here is like the blind learning what an elephant looks like simply by touching it with their hands. Here is another good comparison--could you study and understand the moon well on earth if you never have a chance to go up there and experience it yourself for a while?

Hope I didn't offend you; I just want to show you how challenging it is to learn English well here!

Hi Acquaintances,

After coming to Hyderabad I have revolutionized lot. Now I am concentrating on English language grip. I am searching many forums, sites in the internet and reading them. As far as Iâm concerned I should learn English very well and go into the management stream. I am also planning for GMAT preparation, if any of you are interested then we can do combine study and it makes each of us benefit.

Now a days whatever the mail I am sending is very useful to you all. Please put some time to read it, and gain the knowledge. The mails which I am sending are not forwards, I am reading some articles in net if I think those are useful to you I am sending them. Donât concentrate on forwarding them to some one, 1st put interest to read it and gain knowledge. This way we all can gain lots of personality behavioral, communication skills.

Donât take it as hilarious thing, we all are techies but we are lacking at communication skills, So I want to take this problem as mine and exercise on it.

I am expecting all of your support for the event successful.

I really understand what you are looking for because when I was at intermediate level, I was questioning everything like you and interested in thinking every sentence in detail. Past perfect tense was my favourite.I questioned and thought about its usage for years because it wasn't an existing tense in my native language. I felt inefficient when I didn't use past perfect or had questions about it in my mind. To tell the truth, sometimes I still have. This is because I learn English as a foreign language and I don't have a native spaking environment key which will open the doors of questions so, it takes ,really, years to completely grab the real and accurate usage of something. This goes for present perfect tense and modals too. The thing you should do, if you care what I say, just to be patient. After years, I am sure, you will regard both tenses same even the past simple better in similar contexts as your original question.

One more thing, your thinking too much analytical on grammatical forms of the language may be an effect of your English teacher. You know, they do unnecessary exams and want you to find the right choice and want you make a discrimination between whether to use simple past or perfect though sometimes both can be used. To be frank, I still suffer from this. I am still too analytic.

Clive, I used the past continuous in order to express the time duration. Please why do you think that it was wrong?
