Hello everybody, this topic is one of the most problematic question one may confront considering the in which Islam regard women rights in comparison to menâs, as aresult we must understand the following points to clear out yhe cofusions.

Allowing a Muslim man to marry a Christian or a Jewish woman, is an exceptional rule applied under special circumstances. And when a Muslim man marries a Christian or a Jewish woman, there is no problem, because he believes in all prophets, and all holy books. There will be no problem between him and his wife in this matter, especially that his religion -Islam- commands him to be fair with his wife even if she were Christian or Jewish. And any Muslim man going through such marriage should have strong belief in his faith, and should strongly abide by his religion.

The reason for forbidding a Muslim woman from marrying a non-Muslim, is that a Christian or a Jewish man believes only in his prophet, and doesnât believe in prophet Mohamed Salla Allah Allih Wa Salam or any of the other prophets (blessing be upon them).

For example, when this Muslim woman, tries to teach her kids to love and respect all prophets and believe in all of them, her non-Muslim husband will not agree, because he believes only in his prophet. He will interfere in the way she raises her kids, and prevents her from raising them in an Islamic way. And here comes the real problem, because she will have only two options, whether she leaves the whole thing as it is, and does nothing about it -which will be an insult to her religion- or she argues about the matter, and this will sure lead to more marital problems.

On the other hand, there will be no such problems between a Muslim husband, and a non Muslim wife, because if this wife tried to teach her kids to love and believe in her prophet, her Muslim husband will not refuse that because he already believes in her prophet and all prophets. This is why Islam allows the marriage between Muslim man and non-Muslim woman, and forbids the marriage between Muslim woman, and non-Muslim man. Because Islam respects the marital relationship and wants to guarantee its stability, not because it respects men, and disrespects women â¦

Hi guys,

Finally I had a free time to watch the season finally of Desperate Housewives..:) and I have to say that it was...strong...That's the most appropriate word for it.
Personally, what I love on the DH TV Show is that there are a lot of scenes which makes you really smile. Just like in the season finally, when Bob and Lee were arguing about that ice sculpture
which was supposed to be on theirs marriage party..That was really funny. You say to yourself:" What an lovely episode...:-))" But a few minutes later you're looking at Tom, how is he giving Bob a Lee really serious question: "What are you gonna do when the big stuff comes along? What are you gonna do when a tornado hits your house, or one of you gets cancer? At some point,the crap is going to hit the fan (btw nice idiom..;-)), and that is why now, before you make the commitment, you have to ask yourself, is that person in bed next to you worth the trouble?"..Guys, that was one of the most strongest moment for me.. Back to the point, the development of the relations of the main characters was really surprising...

Gaby and Carlos:
Personally, I still can't believe that Gaby didn't leave Carlos. One of the biggest surprises for me,
because, in the real live, womans like Gaby aren't living with blind mens..:-) That's why it looked
a little weird. But as Gaby said: "Carlos is the love of my live"...hmm..:-))

Susan and Mike:
Top moment was, when they were choosing the name for their baby. That word pun, Maynard vs May-nerd,
was really funny...:-))) But I fully agree with the conclusion which they have reached. It doesn't matter
what your name is, it matters what person you are.

etcetera, etcetera..

Guys, I can't wait to season 5..:-))). I love this show!

Why bride's parents should pay for everything in the tradition of Canada?

In China, our tradition is bridegrooms or their parents pay everything because a marriage to a woman means kind of devoting the rest her life to assitant her husband and bridegrooms or their parents even should pay back some money as a gift to the brides' parents before wedding. There is also a saying in China, if a man does not have a appropriate amount of money, he should not expect marriage. Of course, these are just a kind of tradition, some people follow and others do not.

Same-sex marriage is still rare in China. It is NOT illegal in China, yet most people in China regard it as abnormal.

Hi,

The tradition is that the bride's parents pay for everything.

However, I'd say this is changing. One reason is that weddings are becoming extremely expensive. Another is that peopl are getting married iolder, and thus often have established and well-paying careers with money in the bank.

At least in Canada's multi-cultural setting, newer ethnic groups may have other traditions that they follow.

In Canada, we also have legalized same-sex marriages. For these, I have no idea who pays.

âWhat was the last movie you have seen?â â If we think it means âWhat was the movie that you have seen last?â, then we are trapped in a time conflict because âyou have seen lastâ combines time non-specific present perfect âhave seenâ and time specific âlastâ to support the same object, the movie.

Question #1: Can we interpret âWhat was the last movie you have seen?â to mean âAmong all movies you have seen, which one was the last?â If not, would âWhat was the last movie you have ever seen?â (âeverâ is added) allow us to carry out the similar interpretation?

Let me be the brave one in the attempt to tackle this long thread, if no one already posts a reply by the time I am done with writing You obviously have a high degree of the English language and I can comfortably say most will agree. But you seem to have been bothered by what had been said in the previous posts about the mixed usage of simple past and present perfect. The problem to me really has more to do with one's logic and persepctive, rather than his grammatical knowledge, and you seems to be stuck at the sentence which you posted 2 days ago. "What was the last movie you have seen?â can not be a viably grammatical sentence no matter how we dress it. The rules I learned told me that simple past and present perfect just can't be married and expected to sound happily together. Consider this sentence "when was the last time you have talked to your ex-husband?". Do you agree or not agree that this is not a sound sentence? If you say "I haven't talked my your ex-husband after the devorce but I e-mailed him", then the conjunction [but] will validate the use of mixed tenses. But they can not exist in the same frame of sentence sturcture.

Your questions:

Question #1: Can we interpret âWhat was the last movie you have seen?â to mean âAmong all movies you have seen, which one was the last?â I don't think so, "what" usually requires a defined answer and "among" offers alternatives in my opinion. If not, would âWhat was the last movie you have ever seen?â (âeverâ is added) allow us to carry out the similar interpretation? "Ever" in this context does not sound right. "Last" is an adjective, but not a comparative adjective as in "What was / is the most scary/ borning/ bloody movie [that] you have ever seen?" Because we are associating movies by their names which do not change even as time passed, we can use either past or present [was/ is] to refer to the movies with resepct to the rest of the context in present perfect.

By the same token, we often hear people say soemthing like: "what was the lady's name we have just met?" which is fine either with [was / is] becasue "was" paints a picture of the time she was introduced to you, and "is" paints a picture of her face with her name in general.

Other than that, I really don't know how to break it down further.

And regarding â recentlyââ¦

Itâs not a proprietary word to mean present perfect, if there is any hint / notion that this is the case, itâs not true.

"I recently took a business trip to Washington DC". Simple past with no defined time. âRecentlyâ here defined it only as short time ago.âOk
