Tone contour

Hi. How would you, as a native speaker, represent the tone contour for don't in each of the following sentences using a 5 level scheme:

I donât think so. 55

Donât? 35

Donât you think? 21

Donât. 51

Please advise if the tone numbers I try to assign as above acceptable. I'm trying to use above to distinguish the four tones in Chnese language. I'm not sure if it is workable. I'll appreciate if anyone can help.

Hi,

I was also unsure about the usage of these two words. However,

I use various when the sense is vague, it is not known or there is no need or intention to know how many are there, e.g. People from various countries attended the conferece...in this case use of 'different' would be wrong..countries are different. Also, in this context it is not important how many countries. Various suggests loose control over the subject.
I use different when we are talking about a set of distinct entities, whose count is known or should be known e.g. We provide different services to suit your needs...If I say 'We provide various services..' it feels like we are not sure ourselves how many services we are providing.

For your examples, I would suggest:

Need advice from different groups ( if the sense is to gather advice from distinct known groups of people)
from various levels of academic backgrounds (academic backgrounds can be so many...not possible to know how many levels and combinations are there.)
have choices to make from various fresh fruit products (again, the embasis is we do care about the total number of products available..but we have to choose from 'many'.)

You have an account registered with <enter validated email address> and I understand you have forgotten your password. This gives the other person the chance to say 'Yes, that's correct' or 'No, I haven't forgotten my password, it's the purchaseorder number that I have forgotten'.

As I understand it, you have forgotten your password for the account registered with the email address <enter validated email address>.Same comment as above.

Thus, if a customer service person said to me, 'As I understand it, this is your problem', I'd say 'No, it's not my problem, it's your problem. That's why I'm calling you, and I expect you to offer me helpful suggestions instead of just telling me you have no responsibility to help me'.

Recently I got an interview call and it went on well. Now Im on vacation for a month with existing employer. The new employer is aware that im going on annual leave for a month away from working place. They asked me provide my contact details after i reach vacation place, (here also they have office). So that they contact final interview personally. Now i need to write a letter to the new empolyer, which is given below, kindly correct and advice me.

That statue was made in the year 1729 and it illustrates the "Christian Trinity". I'm not so educated in that kind of stuff (my grandma is!.:-), but as far as I know "Christian Trinity" symbolizes three persons: The Father (father of Jesus Christ), the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. And according the Trinity doctrine, "The God" exists eternally in these three persons. Btw "Holy spirit" is that big gold star, which you can see on that photo.

"2- why does the woman have 12 stars on her head"

Statue of that woman is being called "Immaculata", which seems to be the latin term for the virgin woman. That woman on that statue is Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. Interesting is that she conceived him through the Holy Spirit, at least according the Christian dogma. And although she gave a birth to Jesus Christ, saint legend says that she was virgin.That's the reason why "Immaculata" (virgin woman)..:-) That 12 stars around her head symbolizes aureola. I'm not sure about the meaning of that number, but I think it's an allusion to the "Twelve Apostles". These guys were the followers of Jesus Chris. Wow, my grandma tought me very well..:-)

3- What is that book in the second row?

It's the book of the Christian psalms.

4-I saw religious figures on some houses. Why do those houses have them but not the other houses?

Photos three and four from the third group are showing an old Church from 16th century. Other buildings are just houses, where people lived.

5-What is that man doing on the roof in the second photo at the last row?

:-)). One of the owners of the buildings, which you can on that photos, told us that there was a really strong storm the day before we arrived, so the guy on the roof was probably repairing that house.

There are two things friends and even family members do not discuss; one is religion and the other one is politics, especially international politics. But somehow, I was drawn into it. You said perhaps your English confused me. Ok, letâs just presume that. You also said : .

Anyway, I appreacite your reply. I try to be in tune with what is going on around the world stage and sometime itâs upsetting to see the things that are happening around us. Take one for instance. California (along with many states sharing the the borders with Mexico) are on the verge of bankrupcy from the financial burden of the estimated 20 million illegal aliens who used the schools, hospitals, social benefits and welfare systems paid for by the tax payers like me. As a results many hospitals are closed and what is more upsetting is, if I am sick and needed immediate care, I still have to wait but if a an illegal alien ambulanced in to the emergency room for a gun shoot wound from the police, he has the priority over the citizens. And no politicians nor the presidents has done anything about it. Now that I have let some of my steam out, I feel a little better.

Recently, I wanted to use my account, so on the first of the month, I spoke to teh bank manager <<at the branch office located in ____>>. He said that the first thin I must do is deposit the minimum balance of Rs.1000, so I deposited Rs.2500 to my account on 3rd June 2008.

Yesterday, I went to the bank to inquire about using the Online Banking Service. I gave the online banking application to bank manager.

He spoke to me in an extremely disrespectful way, challenging my desire to use the online service and telling me I first needed to maintain the minimum balance. When I told him that I had already I deposited Rs.2500, he didn't seem to hear me and didn't give me any suitable answers. I was very displeased with how he treated me.

I am enclosing my online banking application and request that you activate my online banking service soon as possible. I would also appreciate it if you addressed the bank manager's rude and disrespectful behavior with him.

If you want the person you're writing to to address the person's behavior, you must tell him which bank office this happened at, and the manager's name, if you have it.
