Hi,

Born on (date) in (city) , son of Santa Clause, (name), (I want to add school number here. Can I say "with school number 1125698"? )You can say it, although it's not very idiomatic. But people will understand that this is a translation.

Doll Smith has been awarded this diploma on (date,) having completed a four year education in Foreign Language Teaching in 1990-1991 (in the original text there is a term/actually it is a phrase in Turkish meaning the time passed with learning at school. I wanted to translate its English but it seems that I couldn't find the right word. What can it be? I don't quite understand.) Why not say 'completed in 1991'?.

with a Bachelor's Degree with all the rights, privileges and honours to use this diploma as an EFL teacher by ordinance and regulations.

With a translation, it's really just a matter of trying to stick as close as possible to the original words, isn't it? ---- I think so but my teacher expects me to translate like a proffessional. He doesn't accept any other structures not close to the ones in his mind. He expects me to give the meaning which native speakers will understand without recognizing that it is a translation.For God's sake! They thought us nothing about translation for 3 years but now they want us to translate professionally even from TURKISH TO ENGLISH! (It is harder as you guess). I hope I will not fail in summer school.

Diplomas often use flowery, archaic and stilted language. Often, they are even in Latin.

Let's try to see if this can read "OK". - Believe me or not, I read the sentence with "ok" in my mind before writing it but I ended up writing "well".

Hi,

'Victory of the People' can be translated as 'populi victoria' or 'victoria populi' (the position of words is flexible in Latin, since words are inflected).

However, the correct translation depends on a number of factors, such as the way you define 'people' and the position of 'victory' in the sentence.
I've assumed that you posted a fragment sentence; however, both 'populi victoria' or 'victoria populi' would work also when 'victory' is the subject of a sentence. In fact, victoria is in the nominative case and populi in the genitive.

I think I missed correcting some of your sentences, so here they are.

Lu said he was unable to buy a house. âThe mortgage payment every month is $ 950,â said Lu, "and my salary is $1,100â.

Lu felt sad about his situation, but he wasnât angry with his girlfriend. âThe houseâs price is high, everything is getting/becoming expensive. Having a rich husband means there is a happy marriageâ, Lu said.

The survey shows that 40% of the participants balance true love during the search for a relationship. And there are an equivalent number who believe in love at first sight. 'Balance' is no a good word to choose. I don't understand.

âI still believe that they choose each other by loveâ, says John Zhao, a public servant in BeiJing. âWe have more choice and experience than our parents. But although we consider marrying for money that doesnât mean we donât have real loveâ.

Zhang Yuzhang, a professor of socilogy at Huazhong University, comments: âLove is a feeling and it needs material to be realised, strong and durable.â Say this last part another way, I don't understand it.

Hello everybody!

Probably, you already know of my infamous venture âthe translation of an adventure game called Star Heritage.

Below I'll repeat part of my answer to Huevos, whom I shall thank for accidently reminding me of the problem that I now ask you to help me with:

Â«I have tried to preserve the original (Russian) way of narraion, which is done:

1) From the first person perspective,
2) In the past tense,
So most of the time it looks pretty much like a diary.Â»

...Such is the most of the narration, but the descriptions of various items â those which you'd get in response to the "examine" command in traditional text adventures â are provided in the Present tense. Keeping the player envolved, this doesn't sound unnatureal in Russian, but...

Is it acceptable in English?

EXAMPLE (no, it's not from the game I just thought it out):

I easily went down the hill and found myself in(on?) a gloomy lowland. Only the strained buzz of moscitoes making their way through the thick, moist air disturbed the silence. They were the only creatures here, but that was more than compensated by their number.
