Social Justice “Marriage”

            Marriage is
a custom which can be found in every human culture. Although the forms and
rules are differ. Marriage is a form of commitment between man and woman. It is
a legal recognized relationship by a religious ceremony between man and woman
who intent to live together as sexual and domestic partners. It is can also an
arrangement between families whereby parents create a kind of business
transaction in order to maintain family status and level. Modern marriages
become more complicated today due to social justice issue such as homosexual
marriage and divorce.

            Arrangement
marriage used to be common in the ancient world and it is still practice in
most countries today especially to those high power and status families.
Parents have control over their child’s happiness. They will one who will
choose and decide to whom their child going to marry. For the sake of family
status and power they sacrifice their own child’s happiness. Freedom and happiness
have been taken out from their children. Arrangement marriage is also a form of
solemn promise between two families. My parent married was arranged but they
opting for love marriage. Even though they don’t love each other, but at least
they know each other for long time. They try to accept and love the one another
and now they live happily with six children in a comfortable living. This kind
of marriage arrangement is good because both families know each other very
well. But not for others, they don’t even know who their going to marry. They
cannot see the appearance and personality until the wedding day. Marriage means
people marrying for love and live rest of their life for the person their love.
Unfortunately, marriage is just a primary union which made good economic sense
and in order to solidify political alliances.

            Modern
people are pushing the trend toward amorality same-sex marriage. Same-sex
marriage has been top debate issue in our political and society today. Even
higher Supreme Courts take action about this matter. Majority people are
opposing about same-sex marriage or gay marriage, especially in religious
groups. They insist that marriage is between one man and on woman. They been
taught this way and it was written in Holy Bible for many thousand years. As a
Christian myself, I have been taught by pastors, church members and family that
there only two gender that God created. Gay is considering a moral sin.
Although, I have been taught that way but I never look down on gay people. I
have big respect for them, it is not their choice to be gay it happen from
their own will. They also human have the right to choose who they want to
married. I support gay civil union for gay couples, but it doesn’t mean that I
support gay marriage. Marriage has been union of one man and one woman in all
human cultures throughout human history. It has been the standard custom in
many cultures for several thousand years. Unfortunately, the definition of
marriage today is radically different from what it was several thousand years
ago. Same-sex marriage destroys the definition of marriage, because it no
longer represents the inherently procreative relationship of opposite sex pair
bonding.

            Marriage
was born from primitive cultures that recognized that males and females mated
and as a result produced children that needed to be cared for. Unfortunately,
the rates of files divorce increasing rapidly especially in United State.
Many people filing divorce because the relationship is not going well. In the
first place they didn’t know what is marriage really means. They just though
that the intimate love between two people are enough to get married. It is more
than that; it is more on responsibility and sacrifice. It is an idea couples
committing for life and raising children together and sharing the struggles of
survival. Divorce is the most stressful event that affects family especially on
children. Children may feel a great loss and as well as anxiety and sadness.
Back in hundred years ago, divorce cases are very rare. Even the love between
both parents is gone; they still stay together for the sake of their children.
Parent divorce made a big impact on children, from old saying that “children
learn what they live” is very true. Parent is children’s role model, whatever parent
do the children will imitate it. Children of divorced
parents perform more poorly in school. They also are more likely to repeat a
grade and to have higher drop-out rates and lower rates of college graduation.
It is really big impact for our society; federal government spent more money on
school because higher repeat grade. Marriage is foundation of family.
However, the foundation is getting weak and higher consumption for singles.

The meaning of marriage is differs
from one person to another, from time to another. In ancient times, marriage is
a form condition where women most
treated as a property for men. Historically period, marriage is permanent
institution that once entered cannot be dissolved beside death. Romantic love
has been made the most important basis for marriage. Marriage is also a
commitment and agreement of both men and women. Certainly, in the modern world,
the meaning of marriage is become more complicated. Marriage is primary union which made good economic sense. People are pushing the trend into an amorality society.
Same-sex couples are pursuing the right to be married. Unfortunately, a legal
recognition didn’t allow same-sex to be married, it will change the meaning of
marriage extremely differ. In addition, higher divorce rates many children will
not be raised in a traditional family unit. The meaning of marriage never
define, it is changing as the times change. As society changes, the institution
of marriage changes as well.

My teacher said that I need to use a stronger use of verbs, and to be more descriptive in my introduction. If there are some grammar problems, could you help me with that as well. Any ideas or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: Write about a place you are very fond of.

My Bedroom

All I could of after coming home from school was retreating to my bedroom. It was midterm week, and all of the pressures of the finals were starting to get to me. I just felt like escaping from all of the stresses from school, and into a spot where I could ease my mind. I wanted to retreat to a place where I could seclude myself, and not have to worry about anything outside the four walls of my bedroom. Finally, I walked up to the long white door, it was as if I was opening the door to my own personal paradise. When I dropped my book bag by the door, I suddenly felt a sense of relief. My long and tedious day was over, and suddenly I forgot that it was even midterm week.

Subject "interests" conflicts with verb "is."

Hi,

I would appreciate some assistance with a grammer question. I have to write an essay about my academic interests and repeatedly throughout the essay I say, "One of my academic interests is journalism" or "Another of my academic interests is creative writing" but when I run a grammer check on my essay it flags these phrases and says, "Subject "interests" conflicts with verb "is.". I have to say what my academic interests are one at a time so I have to start by saying, "One of my academic interests is ..
Find the adverbs in the following sentences and tell what word they modify.

The tour will leave early today.

(A: early/today modify the verb will leave) My question: doesn't "early" modify "today" which modifies "leave"?

I am still unusually tired by afternoon.

( A: still modifies the verb am, unusually modifies the adjective tired) My question: doesn't "still" modify "unusually"?

The stranded hiker quietly gave up the chance of rescue.

(A: quietly/up modify the verb gave) My question: does "up" modify "give", isn't "gave up" regarded as a compound verb and it means "to forfiet, ...ect."? If "up" is an adverb to "give", one can say "down" could be an adverb to "give" too. But have anyone heard of or used "to give down"?

Why couldn't you blow out your candles?

(A: why/n't/out modify the verb could blow) My question: is it a fact that "why" and "not" are adverbs? Is that what you're taught?

My little brother almost always eats the most at dinner.

(A: always modifies the verb eats, almost modifies the adverb always) I have no problem with this one, I kept this one to be compared to the 2nd practice.

Your essay was written very neatly and legibly.

(A: neatly/legibly modify the verb was written, very modifies the adverb neatly (possibly legibly also)) Shown for comparison to 2nd practice.

Thanks a lot.

Raen

Oppenheimer and his contribution to the making of the atomic bomb. In the short story “The Poem” by Ray Bradbury depicts an artist with powers to create or destroy life with his writing, in another short story by Bradbury “The Veldt” depicts a futuristic society where kids have become addicted to technology. In the documentary “American Experience: New York Underground” shows the innovation of the New York City subway system and how it was made.

Engineers have the responsibility on what they design, which would either help mankind or destroy it. In the documentary, Oppenheimer wanted to help build the atomic bomb because he believed that this contribution would help the United States win WWII, he believe that making the bomb will help the world get rid of Nazi Germany, but instead they killed thousands of innocent Japanese with two atomic bombs. The engineer should think before creating.

Anyone that has the power to create things should have the responsibility on how to use it. “His eyes shone fiercely. ‘Then I can destroy the universe and immortalize it at one and the same instant. It’s in the power of a sonnet, if I choose to write it. (Bradbruy,781)” David (character from story) found out about his powers and was not responsible enough to handle it. David’s wife, who had more reasoning, tires to manage David’s powers. Engineers have the power of creation, with this power, responsibility will follow.

Engineering a technology can become an addiction. “They walked down the ball. ‘I locked the nursery up,’ explained the father, ‘and the children broke back in to it during the night…’ (Bradbury, 8)” The kids were punish were not allowed to use the nursery, but they were addicted to this technology, since there addiction was so strong they decide to kill their parents in order to save the nursery. The short story was publish during the 1950’s and is amazing how the depiction of the addiction to technology is not far from the present. Engineers would have to think about what is good for the individual.

There are some engineers who did take the responsibilities in order to help their fellow man. In the documentary “New York Underground” shows engineers and workers work day and night in order to provide an essential service that New York which was the subway. Because of the subway congestion from the streets fell 70%, life and business grow.

My stand on engineering is base on how the engineers would design something to help the world. Engineers have become more wanted because technology is advancing, advancing in many areas such as medicine, communication, environmental, etc. In the case of the atomic bomb it was necessary to fight the enemy, but having the power to create should not be use to destroy life with your creation. Something’s the things that are created can become an addiction. Engineers must decide to weather create something that could help or destroy the world.

Re: This is my first writing. Is it?

Are you saying that those SMEs did not take part in something for one or more of the following reasons: (1) location of their head offices, (2) business not started yet, or (3) refusal to participate?
If that's the case, I wouldn't say "were unable to participate", because this does not apply to somebody who "refused to take part" in whatever it may be. If I refuse to do something, I don't want to do it, despite being able to!

As for your question, I wouldn't use "either" and I would also rephrase the part after "due to" ("due to their head office being located elsewhere, had not commenced their operation or refused to take part"), which doesn't sound good to me. I think you've got some problems with verb forms.

Warning: This is just my opinion and I'm not a native, so please wait for some more reliable answers.
