This is a classic case of a non-English speaker unfamiliar with the idioms of the English language. Of course, this is entirely not your fault because it is not your first language. Instead of correcting this letter, I suggest you improve on your overall usage of vocabulary in the English language. Reading English books such as novels, prep books for TOEFL, idioms, grammar will help as well as watching English movies as well.

One tip I would like to let you know. In the English society, "communication skills" are very important. What does "communication skills" mean? It means how to express your deepest emotions, interests, and objectives in the most boring and unemotional way possible so that your target audience does not think you're an emotional nutcase.

If you're looking for an increased pay, you may say things such as "My performance has been held steady by the support of this organization and your continued support in the future will reinforce the confidence I have in my abilities. Thus, I feel that being a valuable asset to the organization may entitle me to the same benefits as the other workers that have made the growth of the organization possible."

The best way to build vocabulary is to read, read, read. The best way to prepare for the TOEIC is to take practice exams, which can be found in bookstores and on the internet. Practice books for the TOEIC vocabulary are also available.

Do you recommend conversation courses?

I don't have a problem in English at all (I did vey well in TOEFL), my problem is actually is SPEAKING in English. My vocabulary is quite good but sometimes when speaking I feel that words just run out of my mind.. and as a graduate student this is really embarrassing for me. I lack the courage to start a conversation and I find it difficult to express my opinion and thoughts in a long talk especially in front of many people.... a head-to-head conversaton is much easier. What makes it worse is that a considerable part of my study depends on giving presentations and seminars and imagine how tough it is in my case!! Moreover, my thesis defense is quite soon. So, my question is: are conversation courses beneficial in my case? Do you recommend them?

Regarding your advice, I beg to differ. Words to language are no different from sounds to music, ingredients to cooking, or elements to chemistry. One of the important aspects of language learning is vocabulary enrichment. I agree with you that we must use all things that we've learned to their perfection. However, the more words we know the more precisely / artfully we can express our ideas. If happy is the only word that we know, how could we be cheerful / glad / delighted / pleased / thrilled / satisfied?

I cannot imagine we can cook a variety of good dishes with only salt â Would you like to take the title salty master?

Tests like the TOEFL and the IELTS rate your mastery of English for the academic and work related settings.

Knowing all the words in the dictionary is useless if you can't create complete, coherent sentences. One good way to practice and improve your language skills is to try saying something in several different ways. This kind of exercise forces you to keep adding new words to your vocabulary and to explore different sentence structures.

Regarding the word lists you were asking about, you can search for those things using google or any other search engine.

I took TOEFL and GMAT a couple of years ago and I think you must be much more specific. if you don't have a great vocabulary begin with this book: "504 words" if you are good begin with "the essential words for TOEFL" (barrons).if you can, go and buy them otherwise you can download both on emule.

SUMMARY

A highly motivated, determined, and dedicated 29 year old general practitioner (GP) with practical work experience in conducting evidence based medicine during my 16th month compulsory national service, when I was working as a GP in a health clinic handling most aspects of a GP responsibilities. I proposed a survey during this invaluable experience of my internship to find out the results of failure of patient for following up their routing visits especially for pregnant women and juvenileâs which resulted in 23 percent increase in their attendance. The rest of my internship was in a large medical center in *** city during which we were trained for conducting a wide array of medical skills in all medical disciplines. I understand the value of research in medicine and have always been keen to conduct practical researches to solve some problems of community or bring new treatment to practice, which could be noticed from my research background. I have always been eager to connect my current knowledge to perpetual stream of new medical breakthroughs and practices through reading reputable medical journals, however my research background makes me to be critical to new article and research papers form content and methodology perspective. I think you should create your own dictionary.

Don't forget to write your personal example for each new word.

I know that it's difficult but I did it and my socre in the Toefl-ibt is 86/120
