Does that mean that when we look at the writer's phrase 'any changes would be for better or worse' itself, it sounds a bit unnatural, but as 'for better or worse' is quite often used as a set phrase, he/she might have happened to use it there instead of 'for the better (or the worse)?

Yes, I think so; and even on first reading, it doesn't necessarily sound odd, because readers go on "automatic pilot" too (to borrow Marius's apt phrase).

The phrase is probably best known from the Anglican wedding service (where it appears as "...for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health..."), accompaniment of many a dismal Saturday afternoon, at this time of year.

So, what actually is the meaning of it; that I will be successful or is it just a rhyme without any sense and I shouldn't try to find meaning in it?

On balance, I guess so, but it's not completely clear-cut, and different people might perceive different shades of meaning here. In the case of the gift, "personalized" is more likely if you mean that some relatively cosmetic touch (such as a person's name) has been added. In the case of the wedding dress, "customized" suggests to me that the whole dress (or at least significant parts of it) have been specially adapted, while "personalized" might suggest the addition of a few frills and bows in the bride's favourite colour, or something of that nature
