Hi all, could you help me with grammar in my covering letter? I know that first paragraph is fine so I would like to ask you to check the middle part which is below.

Recently, I decided to increase my knowledge of payroll and become familiar with current payroll legislation. As you will see from my CV, I am expecting the results of my exam and certificate from Pitman Training. During the course I learned how to calculate gross/net pay, holiday payments and deductions, national insurance contributions, all statutory payments. I am confident with processing monthly and weekly payroll including general data input, starters, leavers, processing P45, P46, P11, P11D, P60 forms, issuing electronic timesheets, pay reviews and reports, checking and inputting tax code changes. I am familiar with manual as well as with computerised payroll (Sage Payroll). I hope you will agree that this is a sound background for an entry level Payroll Clerk.

BTW, you might consider paying credit card bills via your online banks, which makes things easier and you never need to worry about losing pay-in reciept any more.

In the UK, traditional valedictions have been mainly replaced by "Yours sincerely" or "Yours faithfully".

(Do not paste and copy lengthy material without citing references-- MM)

I personally feel that Kind Regards or Best Regards sounds cold and distant. Yours Truely.....or anything starting out with YOURS is to personal. A simple Thank You is warm, professional, and friendly.

I am writting to apply for X Scholarship for a Doctoral Study in environmental management in X City Name in X Country Name.

I will be graduated on June 2008 in International Relations from X Institution and is already graduated since 2004 in Biology from X Institution. During my studies, I have always been interested in environmental assessment, and in how these are related to the context of a sustainable development. I then conducted two research projects on environmental assessment in Country1 and in Country2.In Country1, I worked closely with a local Centre Name, and conducted field work such as field measurements, surveys in rural affected areas. The purpose of my thesis was to help local decision-makers by completing data in my area of study through a Geographic Information System. In Country2, I worked closely with a local NGO (Name), and conducted fieldwork as well including surveys and interviews. I had the same purpose of providing local authorities and stakeholders further information through a Geographic Information System. Dealing with these projects, I realized the importance of the connection between risk management, governance, and the impact of natural hazards, especially in developing countries, and has reinforced my interests in this subject. Moreover, my recent internship with X Institution gave me a challenging opportunity experiencing the daily life of an International NGO who deals with environmental disasters in the world. This experience strengthened my idea of the importance of an efficient environmental management in order to improve a sustainable development. Therefore, I intend to develop a PhD project in the area of environmental management which may enhance capacities of decision-makers and the condition of local affected people. There is no doubt that X University and their outstanding researchers in disaster management field would provide a unique environment dealing with such project. They are among the leaders in environmental management research projects, and are collaborating with numbers of actors involved in this field such as the X,Y,Z and variety of local and regional decision-makers. For these reasons, I would like to have the opportunity to develop my PhD project in X University, an incredible institution, where along my intellectual and professional growth I would have the possibility to meet and work with people from around the world. I'm writing this letter to show my desire to apply for the master program at the *** University for the 2008- 2009 study year about *** European Studies. In the following letter I would like to present my reasons for choosing this program and to provide a general background about me.

First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is *** *** and I am from Cyprus. As you know Cyprus is the last divided country in Europe for many decades. I live in Northern part of the island, which is not legally recognizd country. I have lived and studied in Cyprus until I graduated from Famagusta Maarif College, than I start studying in Ä°stanbul, Marmara Univeristy about Economics.

My major is Economics however I have studied some lectures related on Europen Union Studies and I give special importance on Europe, I have studied one year in Lithuania, Vilnius as an erasmus student. From that time, I interested more in European Studies, European Politics and it's relations.

During my bachelor studies I was also the member of Cyprus Youth Platform, which is the largest student association targeting TurkishCypriot students who are studying abroad. Currently I am the President of Cyprus Youth Platform, which is located in Turkey, England, Germany, USA and have representatives in Canada, France, Ukrain and Netherlands. Currently under the name of Cyprus Youth Platform, I have joined many conferences about Europe and Euro-Med region, create many projects which are funded by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and European Union. Projects mostly aimed on Unification of the island, Re-approachment between TurkishCypriots and GreekCypriots, approachment of TurkishCypriots to European Union and increasing their integration with Europe, Rehabilating Cypriots with peace culture. Out of this âmacro aspectsâ Cyprus Youth Platform aim to develop solutions to students and youth problems, increasing awareness, socialization and preventing degeneration of youth, fighting with drug addiction, sexual harrashment.

The main reason why I am applying this program is that out of pratically, I want to improve myself in theoretically about Europe. After finishing succsessfully this program I would like to create benefits for Cyprus. For this prospect living and studying in *** will give me high opportunites. I found that with high number of foreign students, unique character of the program and its multidisciplinary approach, combining political science, history, international relations, culture and economics *** University is the best place to mastering about European Studies. Especially with the possibility to choose different study tracks, either specialising in âEuropean international politicsâ or in âEuropean politics and administrationâ make this program is the best for my future prospects.

Finally, I think *** University is an excellent place to start my career and the program seems like the perfect opportunity for me to meet other cultures, learn another language and experience European education system as well as gain more independence.
