Thank for your input . I have never written a cover letter, I did read some outlines today. State purpose, note why you would be a candidate, create a desire for them to turn the page and see what your qualifications are. But I have had 30 jobs that I can remember, from a teacher to ditch digger, a heavy equipment operator, to motorcycle salesman. I am currently employed in very good position. I plan on sending 200 or more letters to companies who have positions for some specific title warehouse foreman or customer relation or shift manager all of which are in new Zeeland for example, and there paying to fly me and my family out there, that's expensive! I have to prove with out a shadow of a doubt, that I am the guy their looking for. I have forgotten more about those jobs than some guy with a masters degree and three years experience knows, but I do not have 6 years in a specific position to sale them, so I have to paint a picture with words, or get a snapshot of my life on one page, its tough. Look at my week for example, I wined and dined some vendors for pricing, and adjusted my inventory for anticipated workload, For my company. I did some computer diagnostic work on some 2007 trucks in our fleet, and rebuilt a pressure washer. At home I bailed 900 bales of hay, put new floor timbers in the barn, and bid a job to due some commercial wiring on my own, who dose that in a week! I certainly am not the most talented guy on the earth by know means, but I do have a unique past, and a abnormal amount of abilities so I'm always told. I am applying for the rarest of jobs those only out of the country, where I can relocate and reunite my family, a very odd situation Which by the way needs to be told, as they all want to know why your applying for a job out of your country; and the world is going to force me to write a conventional cover letter! At this point in my life, what is conventional about my life or needs.

I appreciate all of you input and heed all you advice, but I am questing the common principles. Is it not possible a person with a uniquely diverse past, in a very peculiar situation, trying to gain employment in a foreign country, for the sole propose reuniting a family. Appealing to employers who facing the toughest hiring situation, overseas placement, none of this justify a cover letter a little uncommon? maybe not critique away

I ought to say at the outset that I'm not an expert on the subject of US visa regulations.

I think that you should state your nationality (in addition to where you live) at the top your CV, but it sounds as if you might have already done that.

In your covering letter, in the part where you say "I am ***, lived in *** until I was ***", I would consider also saying "I have *** nationality" ("***" being "British", "French", "German", or whatever it might be). Then I would leave it at that for now -- there's no need to raise additional doubts and complications that detract from the positive points that you're trying to get across. Then, if they follow up your application, you can bring up the visa issue if they don't do so first.

I've suggested a few small changes to your letter, which I marked up below. I struck out a sentence that I thought didn't really add any value beyond what you've already said. There were several places where you were missing spaces after full stops that may not be obvious in the markup.

To me, the tone and content seem fine, and it's about the right length. Certainly I don't think it needs to be longer. But if you can somehow sneak in just a couple of words to indicate how your qualifications and experience are directly relevant to C# web development (rather than IT in general) then that might be a good idea. But no need to go into great detail because that will all be explained on your CV.

Hi, I would need feedback, as it is obvious on my cl I am not an American Citizen, I live in Europe and want to move to the US this is why I tought of talking about it, sinc it would be wierd to make like I'm in already in the US.

Should I also talk about the Visa the employer needs to do for me to go to work there or do I leave it for the phone/personal interview?

In addition with the corrections, should you give me your advice, should I make this more/less personal, more "to the point", longer, etc.

As per my CV, I have been working on my thesis entitled, âAlgae To Energy: A Thorough Investigation Of Biogas Production And With Ultrasound Pretreatment Of Red Algae of The Baltic Sea To Eliminate Environmental Degradation And To Explore Endless Source Of Energyâ in order to obtain the degree MSc in Environmental Science from ***, expected by June 2008. Anaerobic digestion, biogas and GHG are my particular areas of interests and inspired me to conduct my research activities in a similar field. After finishing the first batch experiment to investigate biodegradation potential of algae, I am presently working on continuous stirred reactors with the homogenized algae, autoclaved and algae pretreated with ultrasound and four parallel batch experiments with same co-digested substrate and treated materials as used in lab-digesters. I found myself very interested in this field and possess good knowledge in the entire procedure, plan and monitoring, as well as excellent laboratory skills. Before beginning my thesis work, I conducted an investigation on GHGs emission and measurement from a landfill project where my entire work was highly appreciable.(appreciated?, noticed? lauded?)

Beside other knowledge on environmental issues, I have good computer skills and literature searching and sorting skills learned from highly skilled professionals at *** University Library. Any help "fixing" the following cover letter, would be greatly appreciated. I plan to send it to a research institute in the US which has a few internship positions available for students worldwide. In their own words, the cover letter should include a statement of my specific research interests, contact details and relevant coursework and grades received. Having discussed it briefly with some of my professors i ended up with this:

My doubts are as to:

Whether there are any grammar or syntactical errors
Should the cover letter have information on where i found their program advertisement? For example "I am writing in response to your posting for the *** Internship Program, of which I learned through an email from the *** googlegroup."?
The part "I am particularly interested in working on expanding the simulation capability currently available within *** whose âevolutionâ I have followed in the literature." in the first paragraph originally was "I would wish to be considered for the intership position on the *** project, and if possible for the part of ***, of which I read and was particularly interested in, in the paper â***â which was presented in the *** Workshop on ***." Which version do you think is better?
If i should include the sentence 'Also, it would greatly benefit me to collaborate with fellow interns and have as my mentor Mr. ***." or maybe it sounds "fake" (although it is in fact true!)
In the original version of this cover letter, the last paragraph was
"Also, it would greatly benefit me to have as my mentor Mr. ***, whose career in the *** and *** I think of very highly, and collaborate with fellow interns, as until this time, I havenât had the opportunity to work in a multi-member research group. Finally, travelling and actually staying in the United States has always been one of my dreams, being an avid traveller, but unfortunately, I havenât been able to make this trip a reality due to its excessive cost." Was i right in replacing it?
Finally, should the courses' information also refer to the teacher who instructed me (especially since one of them has cooperated in the past with the internship's project mentor), or not?

As this moment, I am a new graduate student of AAA University from MMM (VVVi University Campus) and my subject is Business Management with Financial Major. During the period of time, I always have qualified high marks in most of the subjects taken.
