Thanks again. As to making up the greatest new combinations in English I’m a great expert in this field ;-)

TrysB, thank you for your great big speech ;-) So the answer in the first example is “None is.” Can I say just “None” without “is”? Do you personally prefer to use singular or plural form of verb after “none of’?
-
1. “none” or “nobody” is used in this sentence? Ex. Which of them is her boyfriend? – None./ Nobody. 2. Single or plural number do you use after “none of”? Ex. None of my friends have their own house. / has his own house. Thank you in advance.

I suppose these sentences mean the same. Which of them is more common? 1. I haven’t got a single good tie. 2. I have got no good tie. Thank you in advance.

I know that in a positive statements “a lot of” is used. But I’ve got to say “more than a lot”. Maybe “a great many” will do? And one more question. Can “too much” or “too many” be used in my examples?
-
My English textbook says that “very much” or “very many” is not used as a quantifier. (I know than “very much” is used as an adverb.) What do you use to increase “much” or “many”? In these examples I’d like to say that there is not just much/ many

Thank you, everybody. I appreciate your help very much.

Of course “wasted”. Thanks a lot. Raimon wrote: you can also use "not one". Can be “not a single” changed for “not one” in those examples?
-
Can I use “not a single” in these sentences? 1. Not a single dollar was waste. 2. I haven’t found a single decent suit in this shop. 3. There wasn’t a single man outside. Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much, Clive. You’ve saved my homework (and my reputation) ;-)
