I agree with Anatbs.
I think that leaving out the last part of a word makes someone much harder to understand.
One reason for this is that there are words that are spelled almost the same way but have very different meanings. A listener may have to try to guess which word the speaker wanted to...

In the morning - a time during the morning (maybe a few minutes, maybe hours; duration is not specified)

Encountered is much more formal than met, but both are correct in your sentence.
Ran into is not correct in your example, but run into (very informal) would work.
(Ran is simple past tense. Have run is an example of the present perfect tense.
You've is the contraction for You have.)

It doesn't make sense to me. (I'm in the western US. Maybe the expression is used in some other areas.)
The expression took up (something) = began or started to do (something)
Examples:
Kyle took up piano = Kyle began to play/practice/study piano.
Kyle took up golf = Kyle started to play...

This means that Kyle started to use the desk next to his.
Kyle took up the desk next to his own.
(I'm not sure what this means.)

The sentence seems OK to me. Is it the "with" that seems awkward to you?
"Those negotiations are continuing. Meanwhile, the government is threatening mandatory flight controls if no agreement is reached by the end of the year" would express the same idea.

If you have more than one ball, balls is correct.
1 ball example: The black and yellow ball is easy to see.
2 or more balls example: The black and yellow balls are easy to see.

One possible meaning of to snap is to say something quickly, sharply and (as another poster said) emphatically.
"Hell, no" is a much stronger expression than "No" alone.
