Hi New2grammer,
I am not completely sure about this but I think people prefer 'hair salon' over 'barber's' more nowadays as 'barber's' is considered sexist.

"There are several glasses on the table."
Is it wrong or unnatural to say this if what I meant were spectacles?
There are several pairs of glasses on the table. I guess this is the best way to say it, right?
Thank you

I received the book last year although I have not even looked at it yet.
Does this sentence sound natural to you? I want to put emphasis on the fact that I although I have had it for such a long time, I never had a chance to read it.
Thanks

Hi Wilsonidv,
Your friend might want to know whether whatever she told you seemed reasonable/logical/comprehensive to you. i.e. if you understand what she meant. What she said wouldn't be wrong if that was what she meant.

That book talks about what you could do to make a difference to the world.
I think the way this sentence is phrased makes it informal (e.g. the word 'what') . How would you phrase it in a more formal way?
Thanks

I heard somebody said something like 'I wonder why don't I believe that' when she had been jokinly told a lie.
Is that what people would say in that situation? I am not sure if it was that or 'I wonder why don't I not believe that' or something else.
Thank you
