if i am talking with my friend and he says " as if " then what does it mean?

many times i've heard this sentence "long time, no see " but still i am doubtful whether it is correct or not.

o yes, i had forgotten that there are two fruit and veg. hmmm.. but if there was only one of those two items then is could be used there because fruit and veg. are representing a group or class of items. am i right?
