No. The sentence is fine.
It WOULD be a run on if it was:
"The boy was bitten by the dog he was brought to the emergency room."
But the conjunction "and" seperates the two thoughts, so the sentence is clear.

There is a lot of junk in this sentence because it's trying to be poetic. However, the core of it is:
"It was like the far-off challenge in our enemy and prey."
This is a simile (it uses "like" or "as" to make a comparison).

Both are fine. In the first, "cameo" is being used as a noun. In the second, "cameo" is being used as an adjective. As far as I know, both uses are acceptable.

The first case means that the friends purchased something. The second case means that the friends took care of a debt. In the second case, the thing that was purchased is understood by context.
