I would go for C.
Well, A is the same as the original sentence, B sounds OK, C & D don't sound right (to me at least), E sounds OK too but the structure of the original sentence corresponds more to B.

What do the others think?

C, or:

A letter by Mark Twain, written in the year when The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published,
Marius HancuC, or:

A letter by Mark Twain, written in the year when The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published,

Right you are, Marius. The verb has to be in the singular (was) because The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is the title of a book, and that's why the plural adventures has no bearing on the verb.

C!
Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Oh yes, I hadn't paid attention to the person of the verb...
The official answer is C. I thought the corrcet answer was B but now I can see my mistake. But I am not confortable with THAT in option C where it says "same year that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published". Any help!!!

pieanne why did you choose B for the first time. I did so because I thought using was published would be repetitive. Also what do you mean by person of the verb here. Which verb are you talking about.
