Hi Sri,

You could just start your post with 'Dear Clive'. Would that be OK with you?

Clive
Grammar GeekThe person who monitors the examination.... in the US is ... a proctor.
Yup! That's what I'd call it.

Yes, noted the courtesy title with pleasure Emotion: big smile

Thanks Dear Clive !

With high regards,

Sri
I am an American posting as I happened by this question. I only hear of the term 'proctor' related to this sort of situation. You lot seem to have figured that out pretty well yourselves, though.
1) The teacher in exam room is called examinar.....
2) an exam room is wrong......right one is a exam room.... Emotion: smile

No. The examiner normally refers to the person who prepared and who will mark the exam.

No. Use 'an'.

Q1) answer is invigilator
I'm not sure why this has popped up again after such a long time. It seems to me that invigilator is the common term in the UK - in the States it's either proctor or monitor.

CliveHi,The British term that was always used during my education was 'an invigilator'.See http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/invigilator Sri, I assume your suggestions are commonly used in India? They sound very odd to my ear. For one thing, a 'squad' suggests to me more than one person. In Britain, 'the Flying Squad' is the name of a London Police group.Clive
Good points. Using "flying squad" in this context, is bizarre.

Flying Squad

The Flying Squad is a branch of the Specialist, Organised & Economic Crime Command within London 's Metropolitan Police Service . The Squad's purpose is to investigate commercial armed robberies , along with the prevention and investigation of other serious armed crime.
