What does "put on" mean in the context below? I think the #4 sense of "put on" fits here but "produce" means to fund something while "perform" suggests performing in some play etc. Please help me. Thanks.

Sorry for bringing this up again but I wanted to ask something. How do we know that impressario never performs? The definition does not say any such thing. Perhaps, the context would be helpful here. As far as the definition above is concerned, "puts on" has two different senses both of which seem to fit in the definition of impressaio. Please let me know if I'm correct. Thank you.

Dictionaries are not encyclopedias. You won't get the whole story about anything just by looking it up in a dictionary.
