By a Palestinian poet :

The Martyr

I will carry my soul in my hand
And throw it in the valleys of death
It is either a life that makes a friend happy
Or a death that makes an enemy angry
The noble man's soul has two goals
To die or to achieve its dreams
What is life if I don't live
Feared and what I have is forbidden to others
When I speak, all the world listens
And my voice echoes among people
I see my death, but I rush to it
This is the death of men
And whoever desires an honorable death
Then this is it
How am I patient with the spiteful
And patient with all this pain?
Is it because of fear?
While life has no value to me!
Or humiliation? While I am contemptuous!
I will throw my heart at my enemies' faces
And my heart is iron and fire!
I will protect my land with the edge of the sword
So my people will know that I am the man
What type of martyr. One who dies because he is killed for his beliefs or one who kills indiscriminately. The latter is not martyrdoom in my understanding. The sentiments worry me. Perhaps you could explain your understanding of it.
Martydom?

To cut the spread of a young life (or any life)
stopped short by the poisoned arrow of hate
seems a pointless errand terribly directed.

To carry other innocent souls screaming into the bowls of hell what reasonable excuse can a logical mind conjure?
How convinced are blind fools who say they know the intentions of a loving God?
Are we not simple humble creatures clutching for the scant straws of lifes purpose?

Who are we to upstage our creator and make irreversable decisions only He or She can make?

Much sincere talent expressed. The content worries me. The talent can be used to better human life. The writer should stay in the realm of the living, seeking a positive, creative way to fight injustice.
