Hello,

Can you pelase tell me if the sentence sounds ok or if I should change anything:

Although negotiation can be regarded as one of the oldest human activities used even today almost daily in private or business interaction, its academic study began relatively late.

In a more literal translation, academic study in the second part of the sentence would be replaced by:

...its study in academic spheres began relatively late. Is it OK? Do you have any suggestions in incorporating academic spheres in the sentence?

Thank you very much

Hi again,

Although negotiation can be regarded as one of the oldest human activities used even today almost daily in private or business interaction, its academic study began relatively late.

I'd say ...that is used even today... or ...and is used even today... There are differences of meaning in these two suggestions, and I'm not sure which one you are thinking of in the sentence you wrote.

Either way of speaking about its study sounds OK to me.

Best wishes, Clive

I hope you're enjoying the multiple views you're receiving at the moment.

I'd offer a little revision in word order, Antonia:

Although negotiation can be regarded as one of the oldest human activities still used almost daily in private or business interaction, its study in academic spheres began relatively late.

Hi Clive, I think of the first one, thank you. Emotion: smile

So, is it possible to say:

Although negotiation can be regarded as one of the oldest human activities that is used even today almost daily in private or business interaction, its study in academic spheres began relatively late?
