You use "is new", because furniture is singular.

Greetings

Alex
All the furniture in the room is new. All the furniture counts as on item. All the chairs in the room are new. Is = Singular. Are=plural

It's apparently possible to say 'a furniture' instead of 'a piece of furniture' meaning that you can also say

All the furnitures in the room are new. (All the pieces of furniture in the room are new).
is new!

I used to think the same way as you. But please take a look at this

Hi,

I don't agree with that.

I can assure you that people will think you have a very poor grasp of English if you say things like 'There are seven furnitures in my living room'.

Best wishes, Clive
Yes, I know what you mean. And I would write 'a piece of furniture' because I know for sure that it's correct to say that. Still, articles like that one are puzzling.
