Do female unicorns have horns?

As long as you are not a young girl who spends a lot of time dreaming of unicorns and searching ancient forests for unicorn hoofprints, read on. If you have no unicorn wallpaper in your house, read on. If you own any movies with unicorns in them, you may want to think twice before continuing.

Depending on your sense of the word "unicorn" and depending on if there is such a thing as a female unicorn (google gives about 2470 hits for "female unicorn"), then they probably have horns to the same degree that hobbits have hairy feet. The few dictionaries I checked stated that unicorns have one horn, except in the most archaic uses of the term, wherein unicorns had as many as two horns. No reference to horns belonging to male unicorns alone was given. In fact, no reference to sex (as either an act or a male/female dichotomy) amongst unicorns was given. Google returns about 215,000 hits for . Dig in.

I would think that nature would have designed the unicorn to have the horned sex as a "top".

A mid-sentence question mark or exclamation mark is acceptable, and ... one is appropriate, though. That's two sentences in anyone's book.

In that case, he needs another space after the question mark.

Not necessarily. You'll see many people here who stick to single spaces after sentences when using a computer keyboard (as opposed to a typewriter). I think both ways are accepted these days. (Single spaces were mandatory where I used to work for anything that would be published, even in-house.)
Perhaps he was trying to invent a question mark with a comma built in instead of a period.

Now, there's an idea worth thinking about.

I visualise it more as a duel, en piste.

In college I was required to use two spaces. I was always of the opinion that it was out of respect for the finality of a period. Commas, since they represent only a pause and not a full stop, earn only one space.

My brother lives somewhere down by Inkster. I live up by Traverse City.
