When you do put a S and when do you not?

1. Is there any mistake(s)?
2. Are there any mistakes?

Does it has to do with (is) or (are) in the sentence? I have seen both and it is making me more confuse.

Both are fine. Use #1 when you think there might be one mistake; use #2 when you think there might be more than one.

Hello Mister,
But all of the dictionaries say that [mistake] is countable. Then, it can't be [any mistake] but [any mistakes]

Would you please clarify this?

Thank you.
