Dear Michelia,

Sorry for my late respond ! I had been very busy lately.
MicheliaDear kabayan

Thanks for your explanation. I think I have realized a bit about the difference between Islam and the way people applied it in their lives

By the way, could you give me a link to a website which provides reliable and fair information about Islam?

It is nice to know that you understand the difference between "Islam" and "Muslim". Yes you are right that not all of what muslims do can be associated with Islamic teaching.

I would really like to give you one or two websites, however I think it would be better if I give you some clues if you want to know about Islam from various point of view( including from them who critisize Islam ). There are also some websites that are built by fanatics from both "blinded fanatic muslims" side and fanatic Islam haters side, but I wouldn't recommend this kind of websites. here are some clues :

1. Find websites that talk about Islam in academic manner, using logic and scientific method.

2. Find debate forums ( about Islam of course ) where both critics or defenders of Islam share their view in academic manner. Avoid debate forum that allows BAD WORDS or BAD TERMS.

3. Find "Ask about Islam forums" as many as possible. Try to differentiate various answers, you would know that there are seveal types of muslim who answer the questions. Choose one or two forums which uses academic method, do not choose forums that just use flowery languages to promote Islam.

That's my answer, enjoy surfing !
Dear Grammar Geek,

Men are not respected higher than women in Islamic teaching. Men and women are equal, however there some differences in their "Rights and obligations". Islam teaches that men's-obligations are the rights for women while women's obligations are men's rights.

Could you explain this part? I'm not sure I understand who has the obligation and who has the right? Maybe you could give a few examples? Thanks.

Of course no prolem Emotion: big smile

According to Qur'anic teaching, men ( husbands ) have the obligation to maintain their family ( including wives/somen ), so it is reasonable that women/wives have a right to be maintained by their husband.......right ?

According to Qur'anic teaching, women/wives have the obligation to follow their husbands ( in an appropriate way of course ), so it is reasonable that men/husbands have a right to be followed by their wives.......right ?

Those are the simplest answers of course.

After I have read all replies related to the topic, posted by by miss-muslima, I think we shouldn't discuss any thing related to religion in this forum for two reasons. The first one is that, this not the right place to discuss religion issues, and doing so might cause an argument and hate between members who follow different religions. The second reason is that the peroson who try to teach others about her/ his religion, might not present her/his case in a good way, because he/she probably is not qualified to do so, becuase language barier and lack of enough religion study. So this person might cause negative opinion from others rathaer than a positive one.

Therfore I advise miss-muslima or whoever wants to teach others about religion to join a relgios forum.
Completely agree with Winner. In think most members in this forum are just professors of a particular religion, not expert ones. Moreover, though we are professors of a religion, and of course have a tendency to protect the religion we hold, we may even not have really deeply and truly understanding about that religion. So this may cause conflicts between members.

@ Mods: you'd better close this thread and if possible, forbid any further threads on religion or sensible topics (just in my opinion).

By the way, I wonder why we don't have a black list????

We are pretty democratic here; people can discuss almost any topic as long as they stick to our users' rules. There is nothing wrong with discussing religion; anyone who wants in-depth 'expert' instruction on a religion would presumably not seek it on an English language forum. We don't see it as our role to ban any particular subject as long as it is approached within our rules.

Got it.. Thanks anyway
Hi all,

long time not to post,

Anyhow, concerning this subject, I believe anyone could share his views in religions provided that no one is hurt. And I believe we can discuss freely yet I find it all strange and uncomfortable that one may do his in-depth research on religion based on an English forum, and this particular topic is included. Any one , though may have a well-meaning intention, may not be able to present the answer properly. It is turning to become "Fatwa"!! and no any layman could produce Fatwa.

My Regards,

Miss Muslima ,you must be knowing Islam very well because here you are trying to answer questions, right?.But still I want to learn your profession. What if you miss a little point? Please don't misunderstand. Here we answer questions about English and when we learn they are wrong we can learn the true one on the same day without much problem but I am afraid misunderstandings on religion grounds may cause big problems.
