A: My business is not doing well. More and more people are ditching their cars and taking the public transportation.
B: Is there anything I can help?
A: I'm thinking of selling the business, but right now is probably not a good time. You know, the selling price will probably be much lower than it was a year ago.
B: Right. Do you think you can get through this recession? Economists say it's just the beginning and nobody knows when it'll end. If you're already struggling, I'm afraid you may not get through it. You might want to consider cutting your losses.
A: You've got a point. At the same time, I'm worried I'll be unemployed as I've been in this business almost since I graduated from college. I don't think I'll get a job in this industry considering the industry is shrinking.

Are there any mistakes?
Thanks.

Thanks, Optilang.
I have two questions

1. If I drop 'the', would you accept 'taking public transportation'? Is there a reason?

2. What's the difference between "anything I can do to help" and "anything I can help"?

1. If I drop 'the', would you accept 'taking public transportation'? Is there a reason?
I would accept public transportation, but, for me public transport sounds more natural.
2. What's the difference between "anything I can do to help" and "anything I can help"?
Anything I can do to help?
Anything I can help with?
Can I help (with anything)?
Anything I can help? - does not sound right to me.

How about taking instead of using?

Thanks.
taking/using public transport - can't see any difference.
I think I would feel happier about public transportation if it was followed by system
........using the public transportation system.
but public transport sounds the most natural to me.

Ummm...it's so confusing Emotion: sad. Thanks for sharing anyway.
Maybe this will help - but probably not.
Public transportation - to me conjures up the idea of people being transported.
Public transport - what people use to be transported.
I need a transporter - beam me up Scotty!
Sorry if I've created more confusion.
Don't be sorry. You are helping us. I'm just too dumb to understand.

Could you give an example of public transportation?
