according to OED, a baby sitter "cannot" be a parent. So what do you say then when a parent watches and plays with his child? Tomas

It's called "parenting."

One of my pet peeves is when someone says they will "babysit" their own child!

Hi,

Well, you could simply say that 'he is a parent who is watching and playing with his child'. Is that not the kind of thing you are looking for?

Best wishes, Clive
