Hi,

Please have a look at this:

The new reality is that barring acquisitions, your company will be smaller 2 years from now than it is today.

=> Does 'barring acquisition' mean 'stop acquiring other companies'? If so, then why will it make the company smaller? I think it will remain the same (just not getting bigger)

Many thanks,

Nessie.

The business climate is such now that all companies are shrinking.

Your sentence simply says that unless you acquire another company, your business will shrink.Emotion: crying

Hi,

Generally speaking, the phrase 'barring xxxx' means 'If we exclude xxxx from the discussion'.

eg I'm leaving work now. Barring traffic delays, I will be home at 7pm.

Best wishes, Clive
