Can anyone please tell me what the correct way of adding the apostrophe is? Thanks.
ps. Should I say "can anyone tell me what IS the correct way of ...?"
or "can anyone tell me what the correct way of ... IS ?" (I think it's the latter, but the subject seems a bit too long?)
Approved answer (verified by BarbaraPA)
boss -- boss's
bosses -- bosses'
Seraphinps. Should I say "can anyone tell me what IS the correct way of ...?"The latter, but I see your point about that long phrase. I don't see any objection to your alternative in this situation.
Anonymous:The plural of boss is bosses
The possessive of boss is boss' or boss's (the s is optional)
The possessive of bosses is bosses' or bosses's (again the s is optional)
Anonymous:Thank you for clearing that up and adding in the possessive.
Wow, the toolbar on this comment box sure is feature packed. I'm tempted to make a spreadsheet just because I can.
AnonymousThe possessive of bosses is bosses' or bosses's (again the s is optional)Bosses's is definitely wrong.
