Dear Sir,
I am chris, a graduate student from *** University, Japan. As a graduate student it would be a nice opportunity to participate in this international gathering and I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities to share our experience and research activities. Since I am a graduate student I cannot spent money for my travel to attend the conference .So I am kindly request you to provide me the young scientist fellowship. If I get the young scientist fellowship it will be nice. I feel very happy to attend this conference in India as I am an Indian.

Sincerely,
chris
Dear Sir:

I am Chris, a graduate student from *** University, Japan. As a graduate student I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to participate in [Name the conference and delete the next three words] this international conference, where I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities to share our experiences and research activities. Because I am a graduate student, I cannot afford to attend the conference. Thus, I kindly request you to provide me with the Young Scientist Fellowship. Again, I would be very appreciative for the opportunity to attend the conference.

Thank you very much for considering my request.

Sincerely,
Chris

Chris,

I would not include the following sentence:
"I feel very happy to attend this conference in India as I am an Indian."

In my mind I wonder if you are interested in a free ride home to visit friends and family, or are you interested in the conference itself? And if you are in Japan studying, surely you plan to return to India at some point, or are you stranded in Japan? These are unpleasant questions to leave with the recipient of your letter. So I would just stick to the main purpose of your letter and not discuss your nationality. Of course, it is your letter, so do as you please.
