The plans below show the site of an airport now and how it will look after redevelopment next year.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two illustrations depict the current airport site named Southwest and its proposed plan for reconstruction that will take place in the following year.
Overall, the expansion of the hall to fit more gates will be a major change to the airport. After the development, the airport is expected to welcome a wider range of leisure and transportation facilities to better cater to its customers.
The site of the airport now has eight gates that customers can take to access the two rooms at the center of the airport through a walkway. In one-year time, this path for pedestrians will be abolished for the construction of a new sky train. In addition, ten gates will be added to the future airport thanks to the newly-built v-shaped road that connects with the current hall. Before reaching the rooms for security, passport control, and customs, which remain unchanged in the redevelopment plan, there will be shops located at the right-hand corner next to gate number 1.
With regard to the remaining developments, the departures and arrivals will be expected to have one more gate each. At the arrival hall, which has no amenities for the time being, there will be a cafe shop, an ATM machine as well as a car hire section. The departure gate, on the other hand, will have its cafe shop moved to the opposite end of the hall to make room for a check-in section. Finally, the place where the check-in section currently occupies will be converted into a bag-drop area next year.
