Hello!

Can you please see if it is Ok?

From the previous review of the sources and origins of negotiation practice, elements of numerous published definitions of this systematic socially-economic phenomena can be discerned.

Thank you in advance

p.s. I'm not sure about systematic socially-economic phenomena
Would it be better if I changed word order like:

Elements of numerous published definitions of this systematic socially-economic phenomena can be discerned from the already mentioned review.?

Although, I think that perhaps I shouldn't change the word order because of the preceding paragraph which deals with review.

Thank you
One thing:

the term is: 'socio-economic'

Then:

'systematic phenomena' is not right. I'm guessing that you want 'systematic' to refer to the nature of the communication process in negotiation.

Also, you want the singular form: 'phenomenon'.

Does the following revision come close enough to your meaning?

What can be discerned from the previous review of the sources and origins of negotiation practice, are numerous similarities in the published definitions associated with this socio-economic phenomenon.

Hi Davkett,

Actually, systematic should refer to negotiation which is socio-economic phenomena, meaning that it structured. Does this make any sense to you?

The meaning is that elements of definitions( which had been previously published somewhere) of the socio-economic phenomenona (meaning negotiation, which is also systematic/structured) appear in the review (of the sources and origins of negotiation practice).

I don't know if this is what you had in mind.

Thank you
Negotiation is, by nature, a systematic form of communication. You don't want to say 'systematic negotiation' because that is a redundancy, just as 'unsystematic negotiation' would be self-contradictory. What is systematic about negotiation is the form of communication between independent parties, each of which has self-interest. Like in formal debates, rules of procedure must be established to prevent impulsive behavior or power-plays..

Again, the practice of negotiation is a phenomenon, not phenomena.

I am confused by what you mean by 'elements of definitions'?

As for word order, it is hard to advise you emphatically when only one sentence at a time is presented for review.

Maybe you should include a little more context around this sentence, because there is too more guesswork on this end.
Thank you for such a clear and lenghty explanation.

I guess elements of definitions: similar elements in different definitions of the same phenomenon.

Here are couple of sentences that follow this sentence:

Here are some definitions: ''Negotiation is an explicit, voluntarily arranged exchanged between people who want something from each other.'' (Kennedy, ..), or according to the explanation of the same author, it is ''a process by which we find conditions for getting what we want from somebody who wants something from us..'' Fisher and others see negotiation as ''a basic mean of getting what you want from other people.''

I hope this helps

Once again thank you for your time and effort

Your elaboration pretty much supports my suggested revision above:

What can be discerned from the previous review of the sources and origins of negotiation practice, are numerous similarities in the published definitions associated with this socio-economic phenomenon.

I do, however, have questions about the phrase 'a previous review of the sources and origins'. Does that mean you have just reviewed the source material for the reader?.. in which case you can write, 'preceding review'. And should it be 'resources on the origins of'? Can you simply write, 'What can be discerned from a review of...'?

What can be discerned from a review of the published source material on this socio-economic phenomenon, are numerous similarities in the definitions of negotiation.

or,

Numerous similarities in the published definitions of negotiation can be discerned from a review of the source material on this socio-economic phenomenon.

Hi,

thank you Davkett. Yes, I have just reviewed some of the definitions. Not exacttly reviewed, just mentioned them. (erhaps I need some other word instead of review. ) But I think similarities are what is needed if one wants to make some sense of this sentence.

Thank you very much.
