Hi,

Can I omit the second "factor" in the following sentence?

"Several factors, including genetic, environmental, and immunological factors are involved in the etiology of ulcerative colitis."

Thanks!

Can I omit the second "factor" in the following sentence?

"Several factors, including genetic, environmental, and immunological, are involved in the etiology of ulcerative colitis." Yes, but add a comma after 'immunological'.

Or you could say it this way.

eg"Several factors, including genetic, environmental, and immunological ones, are involved in the etiology of ulcerative colitis."

Note that including suggests there are other factors as well as these three.

You can avoid the problem by a slight change to the phrasing.

gillyflower"Several factors, including genetic, environmental, and immunological and other factors are involved in the etiology of ulcerative colitis."
