Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school than secondary school.
Do advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
Many people opine that learning other languages at primary school is more helpful for teenagers than middle school. Although there are still some drawbacks, I reckon that it’s benefits are more remarkable.
On the other hand, the negative effects of learning new languages at a young age are varied. First and foremost, young people might be under pressure every single day because they spend almost their leisure time on studying. As a consequence, they do not have leisure time to join several outdoor activities with their peers. For instance, they can be tired and stressed if they have to go to school all day but they still go to extra English classes after school.
However, there are several noteworthy positive effects that learning other languages can bring to them. A significantly more important selling point of this idea is that juveniles find it easy to apply for well-off jobs. It stands to the reason that another foreign language will make a good point with employers. According to Vnexpress (2020), teenagers who master English will be employed in many international cooperations easily than others. Another merit is that children will be open-minded because they can discover some interesting cultures in over the world. Accordingly, it can stimulate their curiosity and creativity in order to learn new things better. If youngsters read an English newspaper, they will know a lot of worldwide news.
To recapitulate, from all the reasons mentioned above, it seems that the benefits of learning English as soon as possible are more significant than the drawbacks.
Thank you very much
