Idk why but I just feel that I should say "I lost my wallet while on the trip" or "I lost my wallet during the trip."

Is it okay for me to interpret it this way?

"Nothing out of the ordinary happened on my watch" -> "Nothing out of the ordinary happened (while I was on my watch/while on my watch/during my watch)"

"They look happy as they stroll in the sunshine on the trip" -> "They look happy as they stroll in the sunshine (while on their trip/during their trip)"

While speaking, your sentence will sound equally natural when saying, "I lost my wallet on the trip," or "I lost my wallet during the trip."
