Hi,
Is it possible to write a capital leter after a colon? Avoid doing this, unless eg the word is a proper noun, lke 'Tom'.

For example:
According to this question: Where did she go last night? ..

Note a colon is not correct here. The words on each side of a colon need to be capable of standing alone as a sentence. And 'According to the question' cannot stand by itself.

Just use a comma.

Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Thank you Clive. Nice to have you around!Emotion: wink

Then it should be like this
According to this question, where did she go last night?
Not like this
According to this question, Where did she go last night?

Because after a comma we never write a capital letter, right?
What about this one?

Information: use the comparative form to complete the sentence.

In this context, can I use a colon?
Hi,

You are right about the comma, yes.
_____________

What about this one?

In this context, can I use a colon?

Yes. But this is a title or a heading. It's not prose. eg You can't just say that in the middle of a formal essay.

(Do you really need the word 'information?)

Well not in this context, as you've said I don't really need it. Because it's enough clear just writing
'Use the comparative form to complete the sentence.'
That's what you meant, didn't you? Silly me.
Thank you very much Sri. It's really a helpful web page for my doubt.
Regards too.
