When we contemplate the way things actually are, saying that things are or are not doesn't quite capture the truth.

Does 'doesn't quite capture the truth' mean

1) quite far from the truth or

2) a little far from the truth

By the way 'capture the truth' means to be true?

Thanks in advance!
1) I'd say somewhere between 1 and 2.

2) if something "captures the truth", it means that it succeds in conveying the facts and atmosphere of events or situations as they really happened.
Thanks a lot Ivanhr!!!
